2023 "Tales of Leinyere" Story Event: Official Support Thread

@sparkwood, I didn't think a 2023 page has been created.
You're probably right, thanks. I guess it will come up when the event goes live later this month.

Finally submitted my story: "The Feast of the Masked Dancers".

It took way longer to complete than I expected, coming in at over 15,000 words. That's a lot for me. It could have been longer - there was an entire backstory between two of the characters, but I left it out. It might have to be for another story completely, maybe for a 2024 event if that happens.

The Wood Knot Warrior Part 2 has been submitted. Fingers crossed all goes well in the intake process. ;)

I had not noticed that Galtin's Port issue! Thanks for pointing it out! It's fixed on the map now, and we may just need to let it be an inconsistency. I think it's Galtin's Port in my stories and at least most of the ones I've read, but it wouldn't be the first city to be spelled or pronounced multiple ways.

Also, submissions are open! Just in case anyone needs a reminder. So excited to read all your stories, and to listen to some audios for the first time in the event!

…grrr.

I‘ll need to correct and resubmit. I was hoping it’d wind up as Giltan.

Also, just in case anyone wants a sample story intro that no one is obligated to use at all:

This story was written as a part of the “Tales of Leinyere” event on Literotica, a collaborative fantasy worldbuilding event from many talented Literotica authors. Look for the event on Literotica’s story page to find links to a map of Leinyere, the official timeline of all our stories, and links to all the stories in the event from all the fantastic authors who have participated. Thanks for stepping into this world with us, and happy reading!

Just leave it Voboy, unless it really bugs you. Nobody's going to get upset.

Now, if you'd misspelled Anocot...

Going to drop a Beastfolk settlement into the Mistveil Woods if nobody minds. “Rising Heat”, charting the profession of the one human who is there, and whose job it is to keep unmarried Beastfolk women’s heat cycles from resulting in storms of pregnancies, due to a quirk that greatly lowers inter species fertility.

By having sex with 2-5 women a day, of course.

The Mistveil woods are predominantly elves. That doesn’t mean at all that there couldn’t be beastfolk there as well. You might consider reading The Wood Knot Warrior to see what’s already been established about that area.

Was planning on it, yes. Not locked into a particular place, it just seemed like a good “hidden village” kind of location. JUST saw this, so I was mentally mapping out what I could write.

Obviously not going to be the deepest or most complex series of words ever put to a Word file, given timelines, but I think it’ll be fun.

Yeah, definitely! And Mistveil is for sure an option, as is The Greywood. The Tanglewood might be a bit too magically guarded by pixies. I can also add or thicken a forest somewhere else if you’d like.

No need to change things up. I’ll read the pieces on Mistveil and Greywood to pick a good one. Ten days to see how much I can put together, we’ll see if it comes out. The only World Mechanic I’m leaning on for this tale is that Humans have greatly reduced fertility when coupling with Beastfolk. Not zero, but reduced.

Actually, scratch that. Going to make the guy a Half-Elf and stick him on Mistveil, I can use that as the reason it all works.

Can I get a recommendation from the crowd on how to publish my Leinyere story?
So I've written about 23k words for 'The Witch Thief and the Swordstress' but nowhere near finished, and won't be in time to publish in this event. However, I really do want to finish the story because I'm having a lot of fun writing it... but what do you suppose is the best way to release the story? Should I release everything I have now then release the rest when I'm finished? Or should I release in chapters?

I'm in the same position. I'm going to find a natural break and submit it as one story, then do a follow up for next year.

I suppose the question is, how long is your story likely to be? Maybe break it into chapters and start submitting one chapter every three or four days. It'll give you a chance to write the next section.

Shoot, everyone is talking about these massive submissions. I’m looking at about 5-8k depending on how the next few days go. Then again, I wasn’t exactly doing Huge Interwoven Tale, either.

Mine's only about 7000 but if I kept going it would be heading towards 20k. I'm coming to a good spot to stop this chapter.

It's not want I had planned, but my stories never seem to go where I expect.

That’s fine! There are no rules at all.

Nothing wrong with shorter stories. My goal was 6k max but I was having so much fun adding on to the story that now I have >20k words and a long way more to go to finish the story arc. I'm guessing it'll be between 40k and 50k words before I can finish it.

I guess I'll do what @Rustyoznail suggested and release little by little. Maybe time it so the episodes comes out once a week? Hoping that gives me enough buffer to finish the story before the readers forget about me? :S

AspernEssling did that last year for two stories, and I believe it worked really well for him. I think Varna won an award.

That's one of the fun things about this event: there are all kinds of stories of various lengths and tones

Having an oddly fun time here. This is going to be one of the highest Porn to Plot ratios of anything I’ve ever written, but all of it is methodical application to his job. I’m 1500 words in and about to depict sex for the SECOND time onscreen. I’m also five deep into the regimented rules and requirements he sets for himself to be able to keep up his personal Heaven of a profession.

Looks like my story of one day in the life of a Heat Specialist is going to end up around 5500-6000 words. Going to submit it in the next couple of days, but willing to drop the WIP link if anyone wants to give it a look over as I work on the last thousand or so of those words.

EDIT: submitted. This was comfy.

Just an idle thought. Has anybody considered how many moons the planet has? I'm assuming one, but I'm interested if anyone has done more.

I thought about that too. I only reference one moon in my stories. And one sun for that matter..
