Erotic Paranormal Book Club!!!

taking up from Shykittyme's post -

I love Angela Knight! The first few in her Mageverse series are great, and very hot;)

Jacki Frank, well she is wonderful too, and a lovely person (I run a paranormal romance message board and she stops by sometimes, as does JR Ward). The books in her Nightwalkers series so far are:

Jacob
Gideon
Elijah
Damien (due for release June 08)
Noah (due for release Sept 08)

As for the Anita Blake series, well there are so many sex scenes I liked:eek: LOL

two that really stick in mind...okay three...

When Anita first meets Micah (who is one of my fave characters and doesn't appear until book 10), he has amazing girth and well, there is a shower scene that caused a lot of problems and complaints.

Another one - Jean Claude, Anita and Asher threesome. Nuff said:D

and finally a Micah, Anita and Nathaniel threesome.

I'm waiting for the new book, Blood Noir, hopefully we get to see asher training anita to top Nathaniel.

I'll have to look for the Anita Blake books. Threesomes, huh?

There are even a couple of group sex scenes at one point ;) The first few books are relatively sex free, up until you get to book 10:)

Oooh! Care to share the addy? - :)

Still thinking about the fave sex scene. There are sooo many to choose from - :D.

Oh - While I'm thinking about it - Karen Marie Moning is another author I would recommend. Her books involve the sidhe (the fae). I haven't started her Fever series yet, but her Highlander series was very, very yummy.

Although probably more romance than erotic, but Keri Arthur's Full Moon Rising is pretty good and fun.

And although I haven't read it, but I'm a huge fan of hers, Jacqueline Carey's "Kushiel's Scion".

Actually, I'd pretty much recommend anything by her.

I bought a collection featuring a few of (who seem to be) all of our favourite authors- it's "My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding" and it has a bunch of short stories all featuring... well, supernatural weddings. It's really great, and it introduced me to a lot of great authors who I really need to read more of!

I've read that one - it's really, really good. Enjoy!

(oops - I should have read more carefully. I guess you finished it already.)

Here's my nominations for hot sex scenes:

Sherrilyn Kenyon's Night Play - when Vane makes love to Bride in the changing room of her boutique.

Christine Feehan's Dangerous Tides - When Ty takes Libby to see his new house - he presses her against the window and proceeds to take her from behind.

Phew - it's getting warm in here.

My nomination for a hot erotic paranormal sex scene:

I know there are tons that qualify (I've read some good stuff!), but the first really hot one that came to mind was Sookie and Bill in Dead Until Dark: fast and furious sex in the graveyard in the dirt... it was just primal and angry and so hot *drools a little*

I need to check out "Dangerous Tides"! I'm getting hot just thinking about it!!

There is NOTHING wrong with being a book nerd! I love to read- just about anything! I have a ginormous shelf filled with everything from erotic vampire novels to the classics to Stephen King to Margaret Atwood. I gobble books! hehe I can't wait for the new Sookie book to come out next month! I'll be at Chapters here in Ontario bright and early that day :)

*nods* - Yes, please do! Just a heads up - Dangerous Tides is the fourth book in the Drake Sisters series. Book 1 is Magic in the Wind, Book 2 is The Twilight Before Christmas, Book 3 is Oceans of Fire, Book 4 is DT, Book 5 is Safe Harbor and Book 6 is Turbulent Seas which is due out in July. I don't know if it bugs you to read books out of order, but I thought I'd put that out there.

And yeah, count me in the circle of book nerds. My husband says I don't read books, I inhale them. I generally check out 10 books at a time for a two week period -. What can I say - I'm a fast reader.

I'm currently waiting for the Anita Blake books I put on hold at the library - *rubs hands eagerly*

I just picked up the new Charlaine Harris book, From Dead to Worse, and I am fucking psyched! I am going to save it though- for next weekend... my surgery was rescheduled, and I'll need something to get me through the recovery! I don't know if Sookie's steamy sex scenes are to be enjoyed in a hospital ward, but try and stop me ;)

**Paging Hot Male Nurse** hehe

My local library doesn't carry ANY of her books . I'm going to have to hit the used book store and see what I can find.

On a related note - I just can't seem to get into the Anita Blake books. I think there's too much gore in them for my taste. On the other hand, I've really gotten into the Meredith Gentry series. I just have to make sure the ceiling fan is on before I delve into one of those :D

Yep, I love Christine Feehan, too, and Sherrilyn Kenyon...and I loved the other Nora Roberts series mentioned earlier...I've read most of those too. Another author's series I like is Angela Knight Master series...Master of the Night, Master of the Moon, Master of Wolves...

And in another fantasy genre about an ancient race of beings called Nightwalkers, is a book by a fairly new author, Jacquelyn Frank, called Jacob. The sequel is called Gideon, in which the Nightwalkers live along side humans, in a shadowy world of their own. There might be another sequel by now, I imagine...These are both great books, and very erotic...intense.

I have just recently started reading Angela Knight. I LOVE her! That woman can write a scene that will set a girls panties ablaze!!! I have the Master series on it's way so I hevn't yet read these, but I read her Warlord set and Man OH Man! (fans herself desperately!)

And you gotta love Nora...she writes a wonderful paranormal romance! I'm on the third book in the Gallagher's of Ardmore trilogy. I can't wait to go searching for more of these highly recommended authors!

Yes, I totally know what you mean... I will have to look for the Roberts Gallagher's trilogy, hadn't heard of that one...

Another series I came across at our local used book store (which has a HUGE selection and a separate paranormal romance section), is Kate Douglas' books Wolf Tales and Wolf Tales II, I think there are more by her in the series, but I only have these. These are extremely explicit (hehe) books about an ancient, sensual race of shapeshifters called Chanku. Essentially they are werewolves... and it's the job of the male character to introduce the female heroine, so to speak, to her birthright, which involves becoming part of their pack as a pack-mate, where her favors will belong to the others as well.

WELL...as you can imagine...oh my god, this book is Hot! with a capital H...lol
It in fact has a warning label on it stating "This is a REALLY HOT book. (Sexually Explicit)". It's deliciously, shockingly sexy....I LOVED this book!
:rose:

My oh my there are so many authors out there that I need to check out!!!

BTW I can most definitely be counted amongst the book nerds... I can often finish a paperback in a day or two! (for any that have read them...I finished books 5, 6, and 7 in the Harry Potter series each in a day!) So I go through books like water! I too will read just about anything, although these days paranormal erotica land pretty highly on my list of must read. But I also enjoy reading historical romance, (Highland warriors, pirates, victorian, and the likes) If I'm reading something present day I prefer it have some sort of paranormal twist to it.

MY NOMINATION FOR BEST SEX SCENE:

From the book Captive Dreams The second half, written by Angela Knight...The hero has the heroine secured to a table that is essentially alive. It's based off of an alien torture table, but this one tortures with pleasure! Let me just say that I had dreams abut being strapped to this table for weeks after reading that scene!!!!!

Found this thread and told my daughter about it {she's 18} and we came up with a new word for erotic paranormal books:

pornanormal :D

Yes, I totally know what you mean... I will have to look for the Roberts Gallagher's trilogy, hadn't heard of that one...

The Gallagher's of Ardmore Trilogy: Jewels of the Sun, Tears of the Moon, and Heart of the Sea. All set in Ireland - *sigh* Someday....

OH MY WORD! *scurries off to order book* :D *scurries back in for just a second* Oh - and just happened to come across JR Ward's Lover Eternal. MMMM HMMM - hot, hot hot. Now currently waiting on the rest of the series from the library.

Twilight, anyone?

So I took the kids to see Prince Caspian today and while we were waiting for the movie to start, there were previews for this film coming out in December. It's called Twilight - based upon the series by Stephenie Meyer. The premise - high school girl moves to a small town and falls in love with the local hunk. But it turns out he's much more than he seems. The last clip shows him flying off into the sky with her after she says " I'm not afraid of you" and he says, "Maybe you should be". Give you three guesses as to what he might be....

So just curious if anyone else has read any of these books. The actor portraying the "hero" is Robert Pattinson - the same hottie who portrayed Cedric Diggory in the HP films. Might just have to have a look see based on that alone - :D.

I'm so glad I found this thread!!!!!
I thought I was the only book nerd in Lit. lol
I live in a small town so my library doesn't have much selection for sexy type books. The best I have been able to find is the 'Lord John' series by Diana Gabaldon. The Jacqueline Carey series is the best, I'll have to see if the next one is out yet.
I'll have to check out the movie you were talking about bailadora it sounds very interesting lol I don't remember that preview when I took my kids to see Prince Caspian lol

so i read from dead to worse...no sex scenes but still a damn good read. Reading real vampires get lucky right now and am in pure heaven!!!

Twilight

Ok, so Twilight is geared more for the high school crowd and there is no sex, but it's still a very good read. There's a nice tension there b/c Edward really wants to be with Bella, but he's afraid he'll hurt her with his extraordinary strength.

Even though it doesn't have the same steam factor as some of the previously recommended books, I'll still give it two thumbs up.

Kinda a little let down by the newest Charlaine Harris Sookie book... I mean, it was awesome. But without giving anything away, may I just say "GRR" and "WTF?" That is all
