I find it fascinating when I hear about a song being about something completely different then what I thought... and you listen to it in a whole different way thereafter. Puts a whole different perspective on things...

Like...

For example...

Billy Joel - Uptown Girl - remember the video - the mechanics and Christie Brinkley prancing about.

Well - did you know the song was about anal sex? *grin* Makes you look at that video and Christie in a whole different light, doesn't it?

Uptown girl
She's been living
In her uptown world
I bet she never
Had a back street guy
I bet her mama
Never told her why
I'm gonna try
For an uptown girl
(Uptown girl)
She's been living
In her white bread world
(White bread world)
As long as anyone
With hot blood (hot blood can)
Can and now she's looking
For a downtown man
(Downtown man)
That's what I am

And when she knows what
She wants from her time
(From her time, yeah)
And when she wakes up
And makes up her mind

She'll (She'll)
See I'm not so tough
Just because
I'm in love with
An uptown girl
(Uptown girl)
You know I've seen
Her in her uptown world
(Uptown world)
She's getting tired
Of her high class toys
(High class toys)
And all her presents
From her uptown boys
(Uptown boys)
She's got a choice

Uptown girl
You know I can't afford
To buy her pearls
But maybe someday
When my ship comes in (in)
She'll understand what
Kind of guy I've been (I've been)
And then I'll win

And when she's walking
She's looking so fine
And when she's talking
She'll say that
She's mine

She'll (She'll)
Say I'm not so tough
Just because
I'm in love
With an uptown girl
She's been living in
Her white bread world
As long as anyone
With hot blood can
And now she's looking
For a downtown man
That's what I am

Uptown girl
(Uptown girl)
She's my uptown girl
(Uptown girl)
You know I'm in love
With an uptown girl
(Uptown girl)

My uptown girl
(Uptown girl)
You know I'm in love
With an uptown girl
(Uptown girl)
She's my uptown girl

Don't you know I'm in love
With an uptown girl?
(Uptown girl)
My uptown girl
(Uptown girl)
Don't you know I'm in love
With an uptown girl?
(Uptown girl)
She's my uptown girl
Don't you know I'm in love
With an uptown girl?
(Uptown girl)

Nothing really comes to mind but that Billy Joel thing makes me laugh. What would make him write that song I wonder?:p

Ah.. cause Christie's got a hot ass and he's shoved his dwarf cock up it? I just wonder if the mechanics got in on it too?

Of course it is Dix...

I bet she never
Had a back street guy

He just can't do Morrison the way Morrison did Morrison...

The country classic, "Why did you give my momma's butter bean back?" was also about anal sex.

Now.. i know that the Backstreet Boys had the nickname Backdoor boys..

But i never heard the term "back street" used to describe anal sex.

It was only a few years ago that I found out what that song "Puff the Magic Dragon" was really about. Damn that misleading cartoon and its web of lies.

Perhaps Aerosmith's "Love in an Elevator?"

I love that song..

But Voodoo Medicine man is better

"Should I go or should I sty, It gets worse here every day, this feeling I know, god knows I tried, I feel like I've been crucified, why did you"

Just plain dumb:

I had been in a band performing the song Lola (The Kinks) before I realized what it was about.

Geesh, they didn't tell me Lola was a transvestite!

WEll, actually the songs says so, but I just didn't get it.

:D

Okay, so let me preface this (in order to save face) by stating up front: I was in grade school when Cindy Lauper was popular.

But, I was an adult before I realized that "She Bop" was about masturbation. I'm just dense that way. :D

Yeah... It took me a while to realize She-bop was about that too.
Of course back then I would have bopped her. :)

there's a song by The Old 97's called "murder or heart attack" which is about the lead singer losing his cat. the Semisonic song "closing time" is about being born.

Chef, Voodoo Medicine man is about anal sex too!.......The whole fucking world is perverted.

I only know this cause Dilly said so.... It seems voodoo is only practiced by medicine men in remote areas. Not unlike the back streets of some urban areas. Thus it equals anal sex... I learn something new every day!

Blister in the Sun

I had no idea that "blister in the sun" by the Violent Femmes was about masterbation.

Also did you know that "Too Much" by The Dave Mathews band was about Road Head.

Check out the lyrics if you dont belive me.

I didn't releise the content of either one of these songs till one of my friends pointed them out to me a few years ago.

Laz

professional widow by tori amos is about oral sex , listen to the lyrics and there is no doubt
come on bring it close to my
come on bring it close to my lips now
gotta be big
gotta be big

I always thought it was amusing that so many people saw Springsteen's "Born in the USA" as being a jingoistic anthem along the lines of that "Proud to be an American" song.

Anybody who listens to the words can tell it's really about getting fucked.

Why do people keep believing these things...?

"Puff the Magic Dragon" is not about pot.
"Uptown Girl" is not about anal sex.
"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" is not about LSD.

And the moon landing was not staged in a TV studio.

i read in a biography that lucy in the sky with diamonds was inspired by a drawing made by julian lennon. i don't know if it's true though.

No matter how many times this song is used in movies and TV, it's NOT about becoming Japanese.

I'm pretty sure it's about that obsession riff has.

TURNING JAPANESE

I've got your picture
Of me and you
You wrote, 'I love you.'
I love you, too
I sit there staring when there's nothing else to do

Oh, it's in color
Your hair is brown
Your eyes are hazel
And soft as clouds
I often kiss you when there's no one else around

I've got your picture, got your picture
I'd like a million of 'em over myself
I want a doctor to take your picture
So I can look at you from inside as well
You've got me turning up, I'm turning down, I'm turning in, and I'm turning 'round

I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so
Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so
Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so
Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so

I've got your picture, I've got your picture
I'd like a million of them over myself
I want a doctor to take your picture
So I can look at you from inside as well
You've got me turning up, I'm turning down, I'm turning in, and I'm turning 'round

I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so
Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so
Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so
Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so

No sex, no drugs, no wine, no women
No fun, no sin, no you, no wonder it's dark
Everyone around me is a total stranger
Everyone avoids me like a cyclone ranger
Everyone

That's why I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so
Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so
Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so
Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so

Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so
Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so
(Think so, think so, think so)
Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so
Turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so
(Think so, think so, think so...)

Well, of course not. Everyone knows that it was staged in the underground military base where they put those subliminal messages in the Beatles songs. Sheesh.
