I'm a tall guy (6'2"), and I'm recently back in the dating game. Viewing what women put on their online profiles for what they want with regards to height is very telling.

Now, there are a lot of women that really only want a guy who is a bit taller than them, say 1-3 inches. So a 5'4" woman might say she only wants to date guys 5'7" or over. It's extremely rare for women to have an upper height limit. And there are a good number of women who only want a guy who is at least 5'10", even if they're only 5'4" themselves.

Of course, dating is generally a pretty shallow, truly free market system, for better or worse. Women care about money. Men care about looks. I'll admit there are profiles I actually read, think "wow, this woman and I would get along great. If only she was cuter". I'm far from super-shallow, but I have my preferences; I have to really want to jump a woman's bones in order to date her, there's no getting around it.

For those who are bright enough to comprehend what reversing words means, allow me to show you what it's like when you use Bronzeage's reasoning on women, instead of men.

Insecure women have to have a reason, which it beyond their control. If a man doesn't like her, it can't be something wrong with her, it has to be him deficiencey.

An insecure woman could be 180 pounds, wish she were thinner and thank God she is not 240.

It's not necessarily true that he has no chance of being attractive to her. Lots of people are attracted to people who don't have what they consider to be ideal hawt characteristics.

For instance: while I don't mind if men are short, I do prefer that they not be fat. There.... I admit it. I would rather a guy be fit or scrawny than fat. HOWEVER.... I have been attracted to fat men. In spite of the fact that, o noes, they have a physical characteristic that isn't my preference, they have had other characteristics that I have found sexy.... And my attraction to a man is based on a total picture, not on one single trait. General hawtness outweighs one specific nonhawt quality. (Well, as long as that one specific nonhawt quality is just something superficial.... General hawtness wouldn't outweigh, say, a guy's love of beheading kittens. )

I tower over people your height. I'm also fat. Which means that I would look like a mountain next to you.
That being said, part of it is complete vanity- I don't like being bigger than my partner.
The other thing, is that I like to be able to snuggle in my man's arms, and feel like he can protect me.
The last guy I dated who was your height, I ended up throwing across a room once, because he wouldn't stop tickling me. I didn't quite MEAN to throw him across the room, but it wasn't difficult- I'm strong, he was small.
