In Australia it’s not widely known that parlours are usually Asian or Russian (or some other Eastern European) owned. As an Anglo-Saxon white girl I worked on the Russian side. Despite what you may see on TV, I found the Russian bosses to be very fair and reasonable, provided I was flexible.

There’s no straight formula, but the house will usually get 50-75% of the base (what a customer pays when they first enter, and it’s always upfront). Adjusting slightly for inflation, I would earn around $38 of the $75 paid by the customer. Not much for an hour’s work. But I got to keep 100% of the tips, which would be usually $50, sometimes more, but not often.

Obviously the $50 was for the final rub & tug - masturbation. Although I was a qualified masseuse, the ending was pretty much what customers were there for. On the odd occasion where a customer didn’t want to be finished off, or was just there for an actual (God forbid) massage, I was pretty much screwed.

Why did the house care so much? Motorcycle gangs and other protection rackets tend to leave massage parlours alone. There’s just not enough money in them. 1. At least in my country, a woman or man who can dedicate around 10 years to the 'art' of all over massage should be able to generate enough wealth to buy a nice house outright. Unfortunately this isn't the case for a number of girls, mostly from Asia, forced into the trade and earning little more than room and food. To this I blame (a) their parents for being naive enough to believe a business is interested in sponsoring their education (b) clients who insist on the youngest possible workers, most of which have had no experience prior to leaving their country and (c) governments offering student visas but rarely checking up on attendance levels.
2. Myself and my colleagues didn't particularly get on as we were in fierce competition with each other. The environment wasn't nasty but it was cold. We had better things to focus on, unless a client was unruly.

The simple answer is you don't. Some of the sleaziest venues are totally legit, and the reverse applies too. The problem with the venue in which I worked, we appeared too clean and therefor got a lot of foot traffic wanting legitimate massage, which as you will know from my thread is one of the worst outcomes for finances. Another issue you may face is that many sensual massage operators will not offer the service on your first visit in case you are law enforcement. As a little tip, work into the early conversation that it's great to be back, even if you haven't been there before.

I'm not sure how that would work. Most clients I know would either assume a stranger could be the police, or they simply wouldn't want to admit they've been to a happy ending massage venue. If you try it be prepared to watch them turn and run away

This thread was a very brief summary of a book that I had been commissioned to write in 2021. There are a few reasons that I eventually removed myself from the deal. First because I was struggling for content, as I couldn't name, allude to or identify anything about the parlour that I worked (for my own personal safety and that of my publisher), and second because of these restrictions I didn't have enough content to fill a book. Aside from the inner workings of a massage parlour there's not that much that happens that makes for fascinating reading.
