What brand of cigs do you buy and how much do they cost?

And another question.

If the price of cigs in your state were to be raised one dollar due to an increase in tobakee tax would you quit?

I don't smoke, the StudMuffin does.

And the state did nearly that last year. He didn't even cut back.

That's why I did quit. I love Clinton for raising tax on tobacco. If Marlboro ware $1.50 like it use to be I bet I still be smoking. I think it's $5.50 a pack now ... ouch

We just had a tax increase of $6 a carton. Did not stop me.

I am now smoking Marlboro menthol lights. I do not smoke much however if I did the $6 would make me take another look to see if I still wanted to smoke.

I smoke Winston S2's and Dajarum Bali Hai cloves. The Winston's cost about $3.09/pack, but I can usually get them buy one/get one free. The cloves are around $4/pack.

I always swore that if smokes got up to $2/pack, I'd quit. Obviously, that hasn't happened. However, I only buy smokes if I have enough discretionary income to afford them. So, some weeks, I smoke a pack every couple of days, and some weeks I smoke less than a pack the whole week. It's never been an addiction thing... I've never NEEDED to have that smoke.

Re: Re: Another question for all you smokers...

I smoke Camels. Reds, when they don't have Camels.

Average of about 5.50 a pack.

I suspect I'd keep buying packs till they were around 10 bucks, then roll my own.

But I wouldn't cut back ot quit.

Muleburros. Don't pay attention to the cost.
If the cost gets too high, I'll head to the tax-free reservation smoke shop 60 miles away and buy 10 cartons at a time.

Don't you live in KC? Where in hell are you buying smokes that they run you $5+/pack?

I moved.

But when I was there, they ran about 3 and a quarter.

I'll quit when I'm ready...

I smoke "American Spirit" cigarettes, they cost $30.00 USD.

I get them from www.esmokes.com so I'm not really effected by the sin taxes here. (they'll find a loophole soon, then I'll just go blackmarket!)

Ahhhh... ok. I was skeered for a minute.

I smoke Winfield Red Tobacco, which sets me back about $20 (Aus) for a 50gram pouch.

I used to smoke tailor mades, then switched over the tobacco once prices got up to $9-10 (Aus) a pack.

If tobacco were to go up, I still would smoke. If the price became ludicrous, I would switch to 'chop chop'.

...I smoke KOOl milds...100's...more puffs for the buck...
...My daughter gets 'em at the store she works at, for 'bout 21 dollars a carton..
...As for quittin'....price is not much of an issue, just wish I could quit....

I quit when Marlboro went to a buck fifty a pack. God, do I feel old. $5.50 now?? Wowsa!!

I smole Newport 100s when I can afford them they are about $5 a pack. I am currently smoking Marloboro Menthol Lights because they are buy one get one free. I said I would quit when they got to $3 a pack...so much for that

American Spirit are cool but only available in Germany, so I buy a carton when I'm in Berlin.

Cigarettes here are about $4.80. Not too expensive. They keep talking about raising the price the equivalent of a couple of dollars. Don't think it would affect my social habit much.

There are lots of places to buy the same brands smuggled in from Poland for much cheaper. Or a trip to Germany where they are 30% cheaper.

I started out with Virginia Slims Menthol, switched many years ago to generics because they taste pretty much the same. Right now, its Campton Menthol Lights, $10 per carton.

I use to smoke Marlboro's but now I can't afford that extra money so I smoke generics.

Bailey's menthol lights $15 a carton, can't tell the difference except in the pocketbook.

ciggs cost about $7.50 a pack here

Both me and my girlfriend smoked

we smoked between us - say on average a pack and half a day

that was $11 a day

$77 a week

$308 a month

$3696 a year - on smokes

Fuck that is the price of two holidays / a new car / whatever

scared the fuck out of me , plus it was not that good for you so they say

so we both quit three weeks ago - still hard and have had the odd relapse - mainly when we go for a beer

But so far we are on the straight and narrow

Doral (RJR's discount brand).

$18.50/carton

Maybe. They're talking about raising the tax by 75¢/pack (from the current 3¢), but the tobacco farmers will certainly fight it. There's no replacement crop that a small farmer can make the same kind of return/acre.

They say the same about cocaine in Columbia :D :D

I used to smoke Marlboro lights, around $32-35 a carton. But I quit last week, it's been 7 days without a cigarette after many years of smoking. I hope it gets easier soon, I am/was very addicted to the nicotine and the habit.
