Why can't I post pics from my HD as attached files?

I click on Browse to attach the pic, but when I preview the post it isn't showing up. It's the right format (jpg) and not too large to attach..these are not copyrighted

I've never had an attached pic show up on preview but it is there when I submit the post.

I wouldn't think it would show up in the preview screen. It hasn't been uploaded to the server until you hit submit.

Gotcha.

So the only way to get the image in the body of the post is to post the picture's URL

Yep.. it has to be one from the net.. not your harddrive.

We used to be able to attach a picture and then link to it in later threads, but now we can't :(

I pm'd Laurel asking about it, but she told me to commit suicide :(

Attachments show as links because when they were set to show as images, the attach database search to display each on slowed the BB down considerably.

Do NOT attach the file until after you preview. Previewing removes the filename from the text box and it won't upload.

Another related question:

Sometimes when I paste a URL into the Image prompt the image shows up in preview and in the post...other times it doesn't show up in either. I've had to paste the same URL several times before it works

Some pictures are hotlink protected, other are on very slow servers and seem to take forever to load. Since the images are usually NOT on Lit's servers, the BB software has to go to the site tht has them and request them -- just as your browser did when you first found them. I suspct that some servers place requests form other servers at a lower priority than requests from individual browsers. (Individuals write nasty e-mails about slow service and servers usually don't.)

If you have to paste the URL several times, then there may be some syntax error in your IMG command -- a missing or misplaced bracket or something.
