I guess that our absolutely insatiable lust for money and power finally got the best of humanity.

Thank god I am never having children, I cannot imagine bringing another human being into the dystopian future of Earth.

I have a child that I do not regret having and is the brightest thing in my world.

Having said that, I do not consider myself a breeder and think that the Church of Euthanasia has the right idea.

Do you have any idea how horrendous this century will be?

I try not to think about it too much to be honest. All I have control over is what I do and my own backyard. The best I can hope for is that I raise a conscious and aware human being with consideration for others and the planet he lives on. As for the crap he is going to experience, every generation has their crap. All I can do is prepare him for it as best I can.

Guess what, human beings do not care about each other. Their only concerns are repressing and subjugating others for their own personal gain, usually financial.

This is most prevalent in the governments and corporations who have been charged with running our society.

"dystopian" future?

You have a good vocab, you must have a truly remarkable school.

Woof!

That's a gross generalisation and not completely true. I hate the masses, but I make sure I maintain my manners, help people if they obviously need it (an old lady trying to reach something on a high shelf in a supermarket). I know people like me are rare these days, and that makes me want to be more polite and kind and caring. People follow examples and we live in a world where you can't say sorry for bumping into someone in case they are hurt and you are counted as liable. The more people that worry less about the possible court case and care more about being a human being, the greater societies chances of swinging back for the better. The more good people allow themselves to become embittered, the quicker society is going to find itself in the sewers. Apathy begets apathy, and anyone who gives the remotest crap should be actively trying to turn things around.

The government and corporations are more concerned about maximizing their power and profits and leaving a wake of ruin and even death in the process.

Yeah that is true, but that does not necessarily reflect the attitude of the majority. And if the majority were willing to accept it, they would be able to make changes. Then again, it's just like 1984 and the proles.
