The great thing about the Internet when it started was the promise of everyone having equal access to Information, which would make everyone better informed.

As we know, it didn't really work out that way...especially in the "adult" part of the Internet.

I've always found it frustrating that most Adult-oriented web sites are populated by bums.

I wish I could have a more inclusive outlook, but the simple fact is that most adult-oriented communities are filled with under-educated, under-employed people with questionable values and virtually zero ability to communicate intelligently in writing.

Would a Paid Membership Forum result in a better grade of people having a better grade of conversation?

Or is it folly to even consider?

Discuss.

If I wanted to change anything, I would like a separate membership category for those who have posted stories.

And Lit has paid me - for my winning stories.

I don't get the underlying concept here. A paywall would reduce membership. Free for the user does not imply no income for the owners. They can always run ads (I assume they do, I've been running VPN and ad-blocker software for years now). The more hits, the better and free ensures more hits, especially because there are so many perverts out there and perverts are people too!

:D

Bandwidth is. There is virtually unlimited bandwidth here. It's not like a stadium where ticket prices reflect demand.

Amazon Sellers will sell at different price points to attract different classes of buyers.

It’s one of the demand levers.

So do many retailers, but they deal in tangible goods.

It's not like you can walk into any box store and pick up a copy of "Lancecastor's Greatest Posts" at any price point.

🥶

Couldn’t you run a paid website for those of a superior bent like yourself?

One where there are no bums, or any of the under educated.

I already have that. It’s called my life.

But there is an opportunity for curated internet communities geared to the personal needs of upscale singles… an online personals version of the SOHO House chain, for example.

There is also a need for internet communities without haters.

Paywall is an easy fix for that.

Take a troll like sean, for example… he says he posts in several different communities, so most of his social life, if you can call it that, is spittiing out argumentative tripe across multiple sites.

If he had to pay X$/per month for each of those sites, he’d drift to other Free sites instead.

More women would subscribe to a paid section to get away from the thirsty simp horny guys and chat with real men or women so I like it

Wrong as paid services are not a threshold that holds Simps back. On the contrary, it would probably make them even more unsufferable, as they would feel even more intitled to women's attention, because they pay for it. (Irregardless of the payment not being to the woman they bother)

A more suitable solution for OP's issue would be more abilities the limit who respond to your threads, or an ability to pay for private forums where you can invite people you vibe with. But that both requires a good infrastructure and great moderation due to legal issues, so pretty unlikely to ever get rolled out here.

This free site offers ignore for the seans of the boards.

Yes, of course...he was just used as an example of the people who belong to multiple Free online communities, using all their time to spit out their frustrations on unsuspecting victims.

One way to avoid having to deal with them at all is to set the bar higher.

It's like requiring a jacket and tie at a finer restaurant...it has nothing to do with the food, just the clientelle.

Use the free ignore feature.

I like a low bar...

Not when talking to cavemen, no...
Zing!

In fact, paid services instantly get rid of the underwaged and undereducated, who are the source of most online static.

The internet was far more entertaining/interesting before it became ubiquitous and inexpensive to access.
