OK, I have that "annual visit" every woman just looooves coming up tomorrow. I had to push it up a week since I'll have my period when it was originally scheduled. The only this is, I shave. Even though I know it's not my Dr's business what I do with my pubes as long as it's not medically significant, I still usually let it grow a bit before that appointment. I don't know exactly why.

My question is, has anyone ever had their gyno freak out because they were shaved? Has your doctor ever said anything about it?

My gyno is a woman, and she merely smiled and said my partners must love me.. and then asked if she had offended me by her comment. I said no, and she has been my gyno ever since. (that comment was my first visit, and I really like her as a doctor cus she's easygoing).

Cool. That makes me feel somewhat better. I guess I just have a "thing" with pubes. I still remember my physical I had to get for track when I was like 15 or so. My doc just took a peek downstairs to make sure I was developing properly, asked how long it had been since I began growing pubic hair...and then looked at my MOM for the answer. Maybe I just have this fear that doctors are obsessed with pubes because of that incident. :)

I used to do the same thing only because I work with the my doctor in a professional way.

About 2 years ago I just got over that. Decided it was none of his business what I shaved or why. I also need to add that my hood is pierced.

When I went in for my annual exam after I got pierced I just matter of factly stated. "Before you start working down there I'm going to warn you that I'm shaved and pierced." He just grinned and said "Thank You for the warning."

A good professional Doctor should never freak out. I can almost promise you, you aren't the first shaved woman he's seen and I highly doubt you'll be the last.

Good luck with your appointment.

ah, one of my favorites of my earliest threads that I started. Trust me, you aren't alone in wondering about this question.

And don't miss the glitter story from Lovely Latina. This is the first place it was posted at Lit, although it has come back as an urban legend several times since then!
