Yes one of those phone calls that begin, are you sitting down. calmly and quietly my step mother informed me. "Netta was murdered last night. Her boyfriend beat her and when she stopped responding he got scared and drove her to the hospital. She was dead when she got there"

I can not fathom it, this beautiful vibrant woman... dead. She was so full of life. This woman my friend. Is dead.

I just dont know what to do... so I breathe..

that type of person is looking for a massive power trip. he most likely started to beat her because she wouldnt do what he told her to do. once he realized what he had done, he felt bad because of his feelings for her, even though it was too late.

as for how he came to be that way, the only thing i can think of is that it was by example. he must have seen somewhere (most likely in family) a dominant male figure beating the submissive female. and even though it isnt right, that's what happens sometimes.

The saddest thing is that it's not all that uncommon. How could a man treat a woman like property... or less than property? I'm sure the same guy probably treats his car like it's a Rolls Royce. Why do women stay in those relationships or, in some cases, seem to seek them out? (rhetorical question, please don't answer)

Sadly, there ARE no good answers. Just hope he goes to jail for a long, long time so that he can't do it again.
