Think this a common one, but when someone doesn't do their fair share around the place. It's a small thing that can drive me crazy over time.

Deal breakers. There are things in relationships that for whatever the reason can't be overcome. Many times they can be identified early on and the relationship doesn't go too far. Other times , that "thing" never presents itself. What's your deal breaker, that thing that if it came up, you'd know the relationship is doomed? This can be in RL or Lit.
RL - chewing with your mouth open. I have no want to see you processing your food
Lit - of it would progress to voice, a super high, squeaky, babyish type of voice. Just doesn't work for me.

No (regular, habitual) smoking. Deal breaker.
Lit and RL: Someone who doesn't get my humor and sarcasm. If I have to explain myself all the time, then forget it. That, and folks who aren't too swift on the uptake in general.
And the opposite is awesome.
HYE been with someone that can make you laugh from just knowing what they are thinking?
I'm for beating the OP about the head and shoulders until he makes his questions more clear.I think for those times when the question is unclear (that's a fail on the OP, for the record) you can always state your premise and then answer. Who knows where the conversation will lead.

Ditto
And for Lit...if they haven't responded to my first 37 PMs, then they are dead to me!
Damn I'll have to lower my minimum count from 38

But that's just me

I'm a self deprecator.. it's a finely tuned defense that works very well to keep people at arms length. I can't say I'm "proud" of my perfecting it to forme d'arte but once you've been hurt very deeply, it's really hard not to want to weed out any possibility of future hurt. It's a habit I'm trying to break, because I see how it can be annoying to others.
I suppose the way I see it is if you're willing to break through the layers, the bond that can be made can be Strong and wonderful...
Oh! Deal breakers. ..yes...
Hygiene. :For the love of Spinach salad, man! Brush your teeth and bathe.
Potty humor: Don't fart and hold me under the covers unless you know me REALLY WELL.
You have to know how to wrestle. Period.
Please, don't shave your entire body. I really like to snuggle. You can't *snuggle* "slick"..
Housekeeping is 50/50. Marriage is 50/50. Parenting is 50/50.
Finances are 50/50. (Are we sensing a theme, people?)****
I Definitely understand it when it's a defense mechanism....maybe I shouldn't had said self since it means....well...self. I can be guilty of putting myself down too for the same reasons.
When I clarify it in my head...I had a friend....always more sick, more hard done by, everyone's was against them....I had to break up with a friend...it was draining. If I was happy I'd hear....'well, atleast one of us is....'
And....all your deal breakers.....agreed!!!!!!!

I wasn't offended.
I agree. I don't like the "poor me"..its gets old quickly.
My philosophy is : laugh to keep from crying. Take my humor for what it's worth.
Or don't.![]()

I tend to be self-deprecating, but not as a defence mechanism. I like to demonstrate that I don't take myself too seriously, and that I'm open to some good-natured teasing from others. Also, I find it difficult to get on with people who are unrelentingly serious, and so I try to put up a flag to draw the attention of others who are capable of being a bit silly like me.I'm a self deprecator.. it's a finely tuned defense that works very well to keep people at arms length. Oh... I agree with that as well. I'd make a strong distinction, though, between humorous self-deprecation with a twinkle in the eye, and grim self-criticism that hints at a desperate ploy to fish for compliments. The latter can become extremely wearing, but I don't associate that negative strategy with anyone on this thread.I cannot tolerate Eeyore personalities...it's draining...and they usually don't make good friends.

is this better, Chained?I'm not big I. The Winnie-the-Pooh types either. Toughen up, don't naive, and have a bit of an edge. That's what interesting.
