If you are going to dispute my assertions, then your arguments might carry more weight if you actually provide an argument - much less provide supporting evidence. Just saying "you're wrong" without rationale or evidence is not very credible - indeed it is just plain lame.NO IT ISNT
WRONG AGAIN
I will be so if I wish to and I think it is appropriate - in this case I believe it is. As I said, I do have experience in this problem domain because I make my living developing software and content (including video). I have probably written, read and interpreted more license agreements than you will in ten of your lifetimes, I have studied the subject, and I have consulted with local laywers who specialize in copyright, trademark and other intellectual property law as part of my job.De Sade said:and you're not a lawyer either so dont be so fucking condescending.
take your own advice, you havent given me any examples of how its justifiable for a company to rip off the public. Phoenyx said:So if they add a tax to blanks CD's and tapes to compensate artists for losses then how can they claim stealing when they have received compensation allready?
You cant justify companies ripping off the public.

ooooooooh I can feel the rancor. Calm down chief, I was playing devils advocate.Ishmael said:Trying to change the subject doesn't excuse you from being a low life theif.
Fuck your question.
Stick to the subject theif.
Want to talk about companies. Start your own thread. REDWAVE and DonKDick will be right there with you. You'll have joined an elite group.
Ishmael
You haven't provided a justification of why you should steal software. You also haven't provided any examples of companies that have "ripped off the public" who haven't been already punished by legal means. Finally, the only company mentioned that was a software company was Microsoft - and I replied that they are already paying over a billion dollars in fines.De Sade said:take your own advice, you havent given me any examples of how its justifiable for a company to rip off the public.
Read it, and reject it - it is lame.Read my sig.

Maybe they'll re-write the laws so that we have to pay more to buy a computer based on the storage capacity it has for music now, too. That would be in keeping with the VCR legisllation.

when a friend lets me borrow software why should I pay the company for that? It makes no sense. If something is available to dl on the net, why should I have to pay?tyme said:Stealing and free are not the same thing.
Yes you did, and only one was a software company.De Sade said:I gave you 3 examples.
It is an assertion - one for which you have provided no evidence. Nor does it justify you stealing from them. This is the old "they steal from other people, so that justifies me stealing from them", or in other words "but mommy, everybody does it". Most intelligent people recognize this rationalization as flawed and childish.Im glad Microsoft is being punished for breaking the law. The reason people use them instead of other companies is because Microsoft steals technology from its competitors, this is fact.
In other words you steal it because you can get away with it.I refuse to pay $1000 for Adobe when I can get it for free.
I didn't say I hated your sigline - I don't hate inaminate objects. I said it was lame and that I rejected it - kind of like the person who wrote it.You hate my sig because the truth hurts.

I refuse to pay $1000 for Adobe when I can get it for free. Its the risk that every businessman takes.
You hate my sig because the truth hurts.
your words are indicative of your education level. Stick to things you know something about. You are NOT a copyright lawyer so dont pretend to be.The Heretic said:Yes you did, and only one was a software company.
whats your point?

that leaves you out.

yeah just like Microsoft.

1. I never said I was here to influence anyone so keep your assumptions to yourself.Ishmael said:
If you don't want to buy the adobe product, use something else that's cheaper.
Bragging that you're a thief isn't influencing very many it seems.
As to your 'burning' a copy question. Of course you can make a copy. As long as both copies remain in your possesion and you paid for the original. If you just copied someone else's and then returned the original, you're a theif.

Phoenyx said:In canda there is tax on Blank CD's..
As for the storage issue they want to do that in Canda for portable MP3 players.
Assumin git happens in states then since people have paid a tax have they not paid a license to copy?
Lancecastor said:Stealing computer software is like stealing a car.
Easier, but it's still theft. I'm against it.
That being said, for those of you who steal from Microsoft, you can google warez group postings of registration codes if your copy doesn't have one.
