Cars > Guns

Everyone can enjoy firearms. In fact, everyone should. An armed society is a polite society.
Translated: "An armed society is one in which everyone is so terrified of getting murdered by everyone they meet that they keep their mouths shut for fear of accidentally insulting someone."

A society living under constant fear of murder is not a polite society, just a terrorized one.

More and more people are walking around armed nowadays, yet civil discourse gets less polite with each passing day.

The right-wing media bubble has convinced MAGA supporters that American cities are filthy crime-ridden hell-holes. Since their audience is afraid to venture out of their suburban enclaves, they never learn what life in these cities is really like. Traffic does suck, but we're trying to fix that.
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd right on cue, typical bot answer!

Now then. And quite frankly...................I don't live in the suburbs. Like I have said, there isn't a bus within a thousand miles or a sidewalk within a hundred

My closest neighbor is 10 miles away

You are trying to fix a broken leg by cutting off an arm

Living in fear is the communist way, you'll even come to embrace it. Look at the Chinese.

I lived/worked for many years in a couple of the great American cities and know exactly what they are like and when you pack the people in, you pack in the criminals too, nobody knows each other and everyone is potentially perp or victim. So, yes, I do live in the country now, but that doesn't make me a bumpkin. The city is where I earned enough to get out of that urban concrete jungle where you constantly looked over your shoulder, crossed the street and wondered if your car was going to be ransacked, or even there, when you returned at the end of the day.

The traffic wouldn't suck so bad if the mass transit systems weren't inefficient, unreliable, dirty and crime-ridden.

All of them. They are for hunting, target shooting, and for pest control. Well, of course, as needed any of them could be used for self defense.
You cannot understand the simplest point. Guns were originally invented for warfare, therefore warfare is written into their DNA (or, if you are unable to cope with difficult language on a literacy site, they were thus invented and patented but later devolved into unsporting weapons).

No bray, when "assault" weapons are in the process of design/conception the first requirement is for the said weapon to keep the person operating it alive...

I need not look that far. Just look at the red state demographic, the one that watches Fox incessantly night after night.
They live in a perpetual state of fear and outrage.
Not unlike you, come to think of it!

I have never watched fox. Too bad about your talking point. Faux Snews gets their from AP. Same as all the rest.

Any other talking points? You know, like how Harvey was going to take down the NRA

Oh dear, you've "graduated" from Fox to OAN? Do you know what adrenochrome is?

Any other talking points? You know, like how Harvey was going to take down the NRA
Wayne LaPierre's lavish lifestyle did more to crater NRA membership than any legislation.
Any other rationalizations?

Sorry, Drudge Report is so 2008. Never heard of adrenogaslighting. I'll bet you know all about it.

I wouldn't know about the NRA's membership. I'm a member of the GOA. You know. The guys that wrecked your 2014 handgun ban. Here, read all about it at https://www.thenation.com/article/archive/whatever-happened-gun-control/

The NRA began feeling the heat from groups like Gun Owners of America, which urged a no-compromise approach, and its lobbyists dropped out of the negotiations. By the time the bill reached the Senate floor, everybody knew it wouldn’t pass. And with no bipartisan Senate bill on his desk, House Speaker John Boehner was free to never talk about reform again.

Ahahahahahaha perhaps you should keep up with real journalism like David Codrea, Ace of Spades HQ, The Burning Platform, Moonbattery

I especially like Moonbattery for exposing all of the hate hoax players

Too bad about your talking points!

The only reason people are terrified of insulting someone is the way you liberals have made almost all speech offensive unless you cow tow to the ridiculous ideals your side pushes forward. I don't care how you live, or what you want to call yourself, or what you want to be, but I don't have to play along. Be what you want and leave me the fuck alone.

It's odd how you say being armed creates a terrorized society, I don't agree. It's well know on these forums I live in Tennessee and a large number of people here are armed every day. Yet common courtesy, politeness, manners, and yes, good old fashioned conversation, even with strangers, happens everyday.

Discourse has gotten less polite because of media just like this one. People don't communicate they pontificate. No one cares what you have to say other than as a reason to attack you. People can be anonymous assholes, vicious, liars, fakes, pretenders, posers, and douchebags with no recourse like a good old punch in the mouth.

When I retired from the fire department in 2013 I swore to NEVER watch TV news again because it isn't news it's either right wing or left wing propaganda.

Address your original assertion first - which I responded to - then maybe we'll talk. 🙂

Why didn't you discuss what the "general gist of the statement" is in your response, above?

(Answer: because you can't defend it.) 😎
Defend what? Your hyperbolic interpretation? Pass. You walking this Earth ignorant of what that means is entertainment enough.

Agreed. I'm in middle TN. Respect and fear are seemingly used interchangeably by the lefties on this board. They are 2 vastly different things in the real world. But, again, thier ignorance of the difference and thier defaulting to a fear reaction is entertaining enough to make me realize they are better off that way.
