Mixed at the moment. Just heard mysterious sonic booms, rare up here in the mountains. Helicopters mean either fires or fugitives. Booms mean fighters, supersonic, just minutes from Sacramento and San Francisco. Which targets?

But it's a bright sunny day, no clouds, no weather, not till tomorrow, and deer cavort in our meadow despite the contractors. I guess they're desensitized to humans. That makes them easy to lasso, dress, roast, and consume.

No bear poop under the pear tree but there's no fruit yet. A big brownie has been hanging on the folks' porch a couple miles away. Pumas will come later.

The remaining contractor is painting porch trim and chatting-up my partner like a grandparent. I hope he's not paid by the hour. Finish that stuff, kid!
