I’ve only done this with one partner, but he was very experienced. I was nervous about being unclean, but he told me to just take a shower and clean well with soap and water. As this is the How To forum and misinformation can be very harmful, here are some very real reasons to not use saliva as lube for anal. People do it, but that doesn’t make it a wise choice. It’s impractical, it’s not super effective, and it also increases STI risks.

• With a monogamous or well-known and tested partner, this is less of an issue, but if that’s not the case, saliva as lube increases risk for transmitting herpes, gonorrhea, chlamydia, HPV…
• Saliva is not slippery enough which leads to it drying out too fast to be a useful lubricant
• Butts don’t have any natural lubricant. A LOT is needed. A water based lube is the best choice for most folks.

p.s. By "you" I mean "you as a pair". Really though, it's one of those things that requires more effort out of her, and that's dependent on her physiology.
