Is anyone else turned on by people who look androgynous? Women who dress masculine and/or men who dress feminine and/or people who could be either? If I see someone whose gender isn’t immediately apparent, it often turns me on.

I won't say they turn me on, but I find them interesting in a way that people who wear their gender like a costume are not.

I've always loved boyish looking girls. Can't say the same about girly looking boys.

Depends on the person and the look. Someone like David Bowie? Yeah. That's a good look.

I went through a brief period of Androgyny in the 80's but that was the norm for a lot of us. I couldn't totally pull it off as I do have rather visible boobs. I had a haircut that was longish on one side and short on the other. I wore ties, blazers and jazz shoes. That wasn't really my thing though.

I have a deep rooted fascination of androgynous people. Perhaps it's an admiration but I find them beautiful like a work of art without a fundamental attraction per se. I think being androgynous is a wonderful thing with a lot of power to it. I'm sure some androgynous people think of it differently and may have found it difficult being so.

That was a real ramble but hopefully you catch my drift.

This is the way I feel too, except I definitely am attracted to both genders. I love the way you put it; "...I find them beautiful like a work of art..."

I was the same in early 90s. Slender “girlish” body, long hair, wore skirts or tights with flannels. I did a photo shoot where I replicated Kate Moss pics, lol

In a way it allows you to look past the gendered physical cues (boobs, curves, dicks, pecs) you might see first and appreciate the underlying beauty of the human form.

I probably just guaranteed I’ll never get virtually laid on Lit with that statement. :D

Although I'm not brave enough to present in an androgynous manner, I enjoy people, male or female, who are. My androgynous side is limited to underdressing and shaving.

Oh, god yes! It makes me drool

we

We have a friend who is m-to-f trans with surgery who is finding it troublesome to present as female all the time so, presents as male at times. I've only seen her present as female.
My reaction is to feel a bit sorry for the trouble she has finding peace with herself.

I try to be androgynous when I can but I'm not very good at it! A little too dark and masculine. Some of my clothes are quite ambiguous and I have been out in nail varnish, lip gloss and a touch of mascara, but not with anyone I know! 😄

I wish I'd been open minded and imaginative enough as a kid (and less self conscious) to experiment more. I was testosterone-poisoned and ordinary til well into my 30s.

Most of the posters seem to want to be viewed as the opposite sex. I don't recognize that as androgynous. A man dressed as a woman wants to be seen as a woman. That is fine with me. I guess what I am saying is that crossdressing is not the same thing as androgyny.

Very good point. I was originally talking about people whose biological and/or preferred gender isn’t immediately obvious. This is not a slight to those who present as the opposite gender (they can be hot too!) but there’s something about the ambiguity that is sexy.

I'm psychologically androgynous. I frequently flip between masculine and feminine perspectives when It comes to fantasy and viewing porn, so whilst I am basically heterosexual, I have a tendency to appreciate and look at sex and erotica from a woman's point of view.

I would enjoy having sex with a man, but as a woman, not as a man.

That’s really interesting, I’d love to hear more about it!

I don't consider myself gay, I am attracted to femininity, so I like passable crossdressers as well as women.

This may seem strange given that, as I say, I'm not gay, but there is a part of me that fantasizes about being a woman and getting fucked by a man, even though I don't find men visually attractive like I do women.

The late River Phoenix was a wonderfully androgynous person.

When I was younger (early 90s) and had long hair i had a girlfriend with short hair. She was about the same height as me. When we would be walking holding hands I could see people take double and triple takes, "Holy shit, dykes! Oh wait no two guys? Oh wait... I guess... that is okay..."

I just find blending the gender lines a positive development.

My wife loves androgynous women, definitely one of her biggest turn ons in the same sex.

Yes, quite so.However, as someone already pointed out, androgyny is about looking (or being) both/neither male and/or female. To me, it's as if it brings together the best of the two worlds. For example, I find Ruby Rose extremely beautiful:
