On your User Cp page, go to options on the left hand side and click, then scroll down and see if you "disable" smilies is on or not. And... in case you wonder later. You get to add an avatar after the first 100 posts. You'll log out then back in after number 101 and you'll be all set.

I'm glad to hear. Some people read them and don't vote or comment, which can be frustrating for the writers, because how do we know if you want more of a particular character's life to be unveiled, or if they really aren't doing a good job. I know votes reflect the good story or the bad, but without comments, the author doesn't know what to work on. Mine was editing for grammer and punctuation (sp) and ... spelling. Well... I'll let you read and get back to enjoying your day ~ thanks for popping in and it was a pleasure to talk to you.
