I think we have determined that poverty is the culprit for high crime and not race. ( Which is a no brainier if you ask me.) So what can we do about it? Any suggestions?

There are more white people in real numbers (not as a percentage) in poverty than there are black people total.

If poverty was the main driver (obviously it is a factor) you would see the same percentages of violent felons and poor-on-poor crime. But you do not.

Pick a number. Lets say a child growing up in poverty is twice as likely to end up in prison for a violent crime. The percentage of blacks in prison for violent crimes is far in excess of that.

The most reliable driver is likely no male role model in the home. White statistics on that are fast approaching the rate of single-parent households. When that is at parity, I suspect you will see higher crime than now in those populations.

My post was more about sarcasm and seeing who all knows what SES is since it's almost impossible to have a mature discussion about anything with certain GBers.

One thing I could say about my people, is we don't discriminate. What we will do to your kind we will do to our own, and vice versa. I seen a video where a black kid asked a white woman for change for the bus. She told him she didn't have any change. So the black kid left. Everybody should have the same finances. And crime will drop. ( Even though this will never happen) its the only idea I got. So to answer your question, there is nothing you or I could do about it.

That's a damned good question... To expand on that (and sound like a broken, conspiracy theorist record) I think this has to do as much with the media and Politian's taking advantage of the situation or using it as leverage.

Instead of throwing truckloads of money at it, which has been working like a submarine with screen doors, I think a longer, more steady approach of higher education for everyone would quell this shit quite a bit. Education leads to lower poverty rates, reduced crime and better understanding of each others situations.

If some people were more educated, we wouldn't have jackasses blaming a race, president or occurrence on all the problems. Also to dig a little deeper into everything they hear instead of liking the idea and calling it a fact.

Sadly I see a sheep mentality to our nation. People voting political lines and not even knowing what they are voting for. Well my grand papa did it so it's good for me. Then people complain when crap blow up in their faces. For example blaming the president for stuff. If they payed attention in government class they would know he can not make laws. Locked up along with them are people that probably were not going to commit violent crime. Kind of hard to tell the difference.

As a result a lot of kids are growing up not just in single parent households, in households with no visit from dad. This is going to have costs.

What is your solution to this? It's great and all to have an opinion. But I want to hear solutions for these issues everyone is bringing up.
We can bitch till were blue in the face. We know Single parent homes make a child more likely to have issues as an adult. We know coming from a low income neighborhood does the same. We know that educations is not equal in all neighborhoods as it should be. But what do we do about it?

Poverty, historically, has bred crime. Going back to the oldest civilizations. And that fear of bigotry and racism is exactly what's holding this entire thing back.
