My husband just walked out the door with our ten year old, on their way to the ER. She woke up with a nosebleed that I have spent the last 30 minutes trying to stop, unsuccessfully. I have never seen that much blood come out of a child that was not injured.

Suffice to say, I am scared, she is scared, even the cats are freaked out. She's scared because she doesn't know what is happening, I'm scared because I know what they do with nosebleeds that won't stop, and who the hell knows what wrong with the cats, they're pretty stupid, really.

I'm worried about my daughter, I'm pissed that I couldn't get it to stop, and I can do nothing but wait.

I feel like screaming.

damn

I am sorry Kitten Eyes, Our children being sick is the worst feeling ever. Especially when you are helpless to get things under control. I am sure it will be fine but I feel for you deeply as I have been there.

She'll be alright Kitten eye's.....my daughter suffered terribly with nose bleeds when she was younger (especially in hot weather). I know how you feel though, its an awful feeling not knowing what to do to help your child.

My heart goes out to you Kitten Eyes. There is nothing worse than not being able to make everything better for your kids. you feel impotent and helpless. I know exactly how you feel having been there before, but your daughter is going to be okay. I know it's no use telling you to relax because there is no way you will until your baby is home safe in your arms.

May it be soon.

I'm so sorry, darlin'.

Cauterizing is going to be hard, if that's what they have to do, but it'll be over quickly. The heat will sear the nerve endings and after a few seconds, she won't feel *anything*. She'll still be scared, yes, but she won't be in actual pain. You know all that.

Take a deep breath.

Clean up all the blood.

Get out some mac n' cheese or beans and weenies or whatever she thinks is comfort food and have it ready when she comes bac in the door. Even if she doesn't want it, getting it ready will be good for you and having it to say "no" to will be good for her.

Get bath stuff together, sponges, special bath beads, bubbles, etc - and have a hot bath ready to run when she scomes in. If there's blood anywhere, it'll just quietly dissolve away in the bath. If there has been some cauterizing necessary, it'll be on you to wash her face before she sees it, and in the bath after such a trauma will be easiest for you both, perhaps.

Breathe, darlin'.
Have a shot of cognac - or tequila, in your case.
Breathe again.

Now go do the stuff you need to do.

Let us know how it went, please, later. Tomorrow or something.

Kitten Eyes:

I know it must be horrible to see your child go through something like that. My heart goes out to you. I know, however, that your daughter will be okay. I know because I used to have the same thing happen to me when I was her age. They'd last 45 minutes or so...and nothing would stop them. I would just have to sit quietly until they passed...and the doctor's didn't know what the problem was, but said I'd grow out of it. Which I did.

Hugs to you, Kitten Eyes...and your little one.....

Nigel

Everyone's home and asleep (except me).

They didn't have to cauterize, it stopped just in time. My daughter thinks the ER is cool and said the doctor was silly, so I imagine this will be nothing more than a story to tell at school.

I'll wind down at some point. Thanks guys.

I am glad all is okay. I hate to say it, but get used to such things Mom. Kids like to scare the crap out of their parents.

I can remember numerous trips to the ER with my pair. Always worried on the way in, and feeling fine on the way home.

Good luck to you.

:)
