NY Times Confesses Major Fuck Up on ACORN STORY: "Times Was Wrong"

Aww...poor baby. Did you screw up the setup for your little ACORN whine-a-thon, when you forgot about the prior convictions and pending prosecutions? That's OK. If it makes you feel better to blame me for it, I understand.

You'll get it right the next time. Well, maybe not the next time...but sometime. Almost guaranteed!
Yeah, I was going to go this route, but I thought it was too over-the-top and obvious. From now you do the passive-aggressive white dude, I'll do the funny. Thanks for trying to help, though!

Weak sauce. I thought you would at least blurt out "SEIU goons".

Well, yeah, but the czars have been done.

And Massa was the man we hardly knew.

The Blagojevich trial should provide some interesting tidbits. I expect Rahm will be paying close attention.

Always happy to help out a special guy.

Let me know when you want a crack at being the white dude.

Mrs. Firespin: I thought I asked you to pick up wine on your way home.
Firespin: No, you asked me at work.
Mrs F: No, I mean, to pick some up while you were on your way home.
F: But there's not a liquor store along the route I usually travel.
Mrs. F: Right, I meant, since it was our anniversary, I was hoping you would pick us up a bottle of wine to go with the dinner I made, even if you had to go out of your way to get it.
F: You're moving the goalposts.
Mrs. F: Why can't you just say you forgot and you're sorry?
F: You may find this interesting. In 67% of all arguments, the woman is incorrect. Therefore, I didn't forget, and have no need to be sorry. In fact, I'd say you owe me an apology, for misunderstanding.
Mrs. F: (Shoots F, then self.)

Owned. Pitch perfect. Automatic classic. :D

Good. I wrote a letter to the ombudsman, telling them to do the right thing.

So did I and I usually don't do that sort of thing. It's one thing to read a bunch crazy ass bullshit on the opinion pages but to see such irresponsible journalism from a major newspaper in the news section is just shocking.

Hey, you even got Zumi to chime in with a "victory" declaration.

And you know how discerning he is about those.

The force must be strong with this one.
I would say, "Admit it, it was funny," but the point of it was that you wouldn't either way.

Some of your stuff is funny.

Family subject matter isn't going to get it done for me though.

But you'd never admit it was out of line.

That shit was dead on. Not even maliciously so. You know you wanna laugh.

Maybe you have to step outside of yourself to truly appreciate the finesse and professionalism of your spin technique, Fire. It could be your feeling humble about what everyone else perceives quite vividly about you, because you've doing it so masterly for so long that it's like second nature and you don't see it. ;)

Like I said, Sonny has his moments. This one was mean spirited tho, he was trying to get even for me not letting him run with a thread based on a wrong premise. In fairness, I don't think he knew it was wrong at the time, but he couldn't admit his mistake.

And, like I also said, I don't think it's cool to bring family members in to a discussion, especially to make fun of someone. Not something I do, or respect in others. Clearly you find it hilarious, so probably my own quirk.

I actually think Zum was onto something. It's a forgiving observation. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it.

I wasn't trying to get revenge for anything. It's possible you took that ACORN thread a bit more seriously than I did. (You'll notice I cut out as soon as the pro's took over.) I was truly poking fun at your particular "style," at least the slice of it we get--which, as Zum pointed out, you might, perhaps, honestly not be aware of.

I didn't bring family in to anything. I made up a fictional Mrs Firespin and dropped your style into a domestic situation. I don't know anything about your personal life, or even if there's a Mrs. Firespin. I don't know who anyone is outside of Lit. This all is a video game to me.

In other words, lighten up, dog. It was a pretty good one. Laughing at Sonny doesn't mean Global Warming is real or the evils of ACORN are primarily a conservative fiction...

What was asked for (the way I saw it) was this:

A = B

What was given was this:

A -> C1 + C2 + D4 + E3 ≠ B

The way you do it is very clever, because in the absence of a direct connection and answer, you can float around it with related but irrelevant facts to the main question and flummox a lesser mind not paying attention. And with that is the "answer." ACORN is bad bad bad not because X happened but because of all these lesser Ys and Ws that will (maybe) LEAD to an X, which hasn't happened yet.

If you have a problem with the style of breakdown, that's really neither right nor wrong, it's a matter of taste at best, I suppose. It was illustrated in a format that you or anyone else would immediately recognize, because that's your particular swagger. And everyone can understand the conflict between communication and the sexes. I've been reading satirical comic strips for decades, both above and underground, that have done exactly that in this fashion, some more biting and explicit than others. It was done with humor and a nod to your style of voice, with no honest ill intent towards you or any perceived member of your family.

An actual insult to a "wife" would been something along the lines of a Busybody style bon mot: THAT FUCKING COLORED CUNT MARRIED TO THAT MOOSE LIMB!!!

So that's all it is, guy. Let's move on. When ACORN finally does have a real prosecution you can identify in one bookmark link, we can come back to this table.
