MagicaPractica said:Well, I've had a novel in my head the past five years I keep meaning to write. I guess this is as good a reason as any. Okay, just one question - does this absolve me of deer hunting responsibilities this year?
Lee Chambers said:Oh wait...you're not my wife.
Sure, you're absolved.![]()

Svenskaflicka said:Character charts, anyone?

MagicaPractica said:Okay, this is making me actually want to write like I haven't wanted to in several months. Guess I'll have to work on my pre-writing for the novel. Sounds like that's allowed.
Svenskaflicka said:Every year, I use special character charts that I found on the net once. They're great help for preparing for NaNo, as they help you get a thourough build of each of your characters. You describe them in details you might otherwise not have thought of, and this makes them more like full figures in your mind, which makes it easier to write a really good story. I offer them every year.![]()

A note of caution, though: last year I think I overdid the prep for NaNo, so when it came time to actually sit down and write the stupid thing, I was past tired of the plot that I had come up with, and it was like pulling teeth to get a few words typed.
Don't do so much prep that your planned plot becomes stale and boring to you.

Hey, what type of novel is everybody writing? It might be chicklit but I'm trying for Literary Fiction ala Amy Tan.
FallingToFly said:Not sure yet... I have a handful of outlines. I think I may scrap previous ideas and write my Crow novel, The Lady In The Lake. It's tickling me with ideas.

Those are great links, Crim. I especially thought the adopt-a-character one was interesting.CrimsonMaiden said:I'm adding these to the first post of the thread so they won't get lost in the middle if someone needs them.
