Meghan Markle

Oprah foisted Dr. Phil on us, so her judgment is already suspect in my book.

Keeps us from holding our own leaders accountable for their atrocities and corruption here at home. What better distraction than a way to slam a monarchy that we defied and discarded centuries back?

How did This family drama evolve into a "let's take down the monarchy?"
I don't blame Harry and Meghan for this, I blame Oprah.

Yes, Harry doesn't come across as very bright, and he sold out his family, and Meghan is a self-centered attention seeker. But I bet that they only wanted to tell their stories, to be loved by the publivc and to annihilate all the negative rumors about them. Nothing more.

Oprah, as an interviewer is responsible for manipulating them and the interview towards this.
Do you think that the outcome (the Monarchy is now even more in jeopardy, after the interview) was intended by Oprah? Or was it unintended, a mere side effect of her poor judgment?

Oprah is rich and famous for one reason: she maximizes drama. Milks it for every red cent. So, yes, she's toxic and always was. She's Jerry Springer without catfights. Sorry, never been a fan of hers.

What I was trying to ask, imperfectfully so:
While Oprah obviously had pecuniary motives thus intentionally hyped the drama,
do you think that Oprah also INTENDED to stir the anti-UK monarchy protests that ensued?

If she did it deliberately, it's a very serious matter.
If she didn't, it means that she has a blonde's brain.
An experienced presenter like her Should have foressen all potential implications.

Deliberately or due to lack of judgment,
if I were FBI or CIA, I would have a serious talk with her.
This interview ended up threatening Britain's stability in the midst of an already precarious situation (covid unrest). And even the UK-US relations.

I wonder how American Intel/politicians are viewing this.

Yes, Meghan was probably treated badly and maybe deserved whatever, but the interview should have been conducted differently.

My two cents:

It must be terrible to have your life under a microscope all the time, even if you are royalty.

It doesn't seem smart to use the media to bash the media.

I doubt that she gave it a single thought. She had the opportunity to make millions from a single program and that was probably all she saw.

As for destabilising the Monarchy, that seems to have backfired. A poll taken in Britain after the interview, if you can call it that, shows support for the couple at an all-time low, while support for the Royal Family is largely unchanged. Brexit has done more to damage Britain's stability than the program ever could.

Probably the worst thing it has done is to increase public support for Piers Morgan.

When the dust settles the monarchy will still be there very much as they are now. One TV program will not change the traditions of eight hundred years (since Magna Carta).

Depends who you sample. Old people support the firm, non coffin dodgers don't.

Here’s one poll:

according to a YouGov poll, the standing of the two royals has also taken a big hit in the aftermath.

It found 48 per cent of the 1,664 respondents had a negative attitude of Harry compared to 45 per cent with a positive view, the first time his net favourability rating had been negative, and a fall of 15 points from a week earlier.

And an american one:

American pollster Morning Consult reported Friday that the interview boosted the ratings of the Sussexes. Meghan' favorability among Americans who watched climbed 22 points from a pre-interview poll to 67%.

I have no doubt that Meghan WAS racially discriminated against by the UK tabloids and had a horrible time, we've all seen it.

But the more I think about the interview and listen to people's take on it, the more stunned I am.

First of all --Harry does not come across as extremely intelligent, but Meghan is clever. How did she not see that some of the bullshit she peddled was transparent?

Secondly: as Robert Jobson said in this excellent interviewpost-mortem,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZL6J5tTFfs
they threw a hand grenade not just at Harry's family, but at the institution that is seen as the backbone of the country by so many Brits. How could Harry do that?

Harry is Whip

Her body is not that above average. She must be a Dominatrix and likes his bottom spanked!

The "daddy cut me off" stuff's a bit hollow....

Harry, 36, and his brother William inherited £21million from their mother Diana. The money was held in trust until they turned 25.

Harry also received a smaller figure from the Queen Mother's will after she died in 2002, putting his total inheritance assets at an estimated £23million, the Times estimates.

He and Meghan were said to be seeking a contract worth £71million when they signed their deal with Netflix last year.

They also have clinched a deal with Spotify to make podcasts under the banner of their Archewell foundation. It is said to be worth £18million.

Meghan wants to run for office.

I think she wants to move to NY to be ensconced in the Clinton Senate seat.

They can afford some Chappaqua digs...

 ;)

... and make some real money for their foundation.

The english seem to have a different word for everything.

Of course, we do. We invented the language. The full Oxford English Dictionary, plus supplements, is about three times as large as the American one.
(of course, that might be because it includes all the American usages, and higlish and chinglish etc.)
