Meghan Markle

I don't get along with my parents (fucking Fascist Trump supporters) nor my inlaws ( fucking tree huggers). So I guess I am a Diva too

You not being a tree hugger is why Prince Charles will always be better than you, because he is one.

I don't see that part in the same way.

Yes, Meghan had unrealistic expectations in the start, yes she might have been rude or demanding of staff, but she was new, and with repeated experience, she would have matured and changed her behavior.

And I empathise with the part of her grievance in which she complained about the harassment by the press, and the Royal family's inaction.
That other Royal family members went through that to some degree, doesn't cut it. Why should she put up with bullying and harassment?

But the more I think about the interview and listen to people, the more I find the interview to be grotesque and immature.
They went ovee the top in attacking their own
And the "they took our titles and money"
-- it's unclear to me whether it was driven by narcissistic entitlement, or by genuine fear for their/Archie's lives/need for security.

The interview, imo was a grotesque fail and Oprah is at main fault because the interviewer shapes it, and it came across as a narcissistic fest.
I have no idea why everybody's kissing Oprah's ass "masterful" etc.

Oprah foisted Dr. Phil on us, so her judgment is already suspect in my book.

It’s amazing how a lifelong intellectual and philanthropist like Prince Charles is treated so shabbily for following the established royal custom of mistresses, all in favor of someone who didn’t read the fine print before joining an institution that her aristocratic background should have prepared her to cope with much better than it did. I blame pop culture, fairy tale misunderstanding of the nature of monarchy and she only aggravated that tendency herself at first.

He's not the only Prince who has been dumped repeatedly. Unlike Meghan most of the women found out what their lives would be like if they married a Prince and sensibly decided that the pressure would be too much.

Meghan apparently didn't know. If so, she was either stupid because any google search would have told her, or she wanted to change Harry's role from the start.

No way she didn’t know.

PS. If the latter, it would explain her differences with the Royal family. She intended to detach Harry from his royal duties and worked to make them impossible. Was she that devious? If so, it would explain why she wanted the Oprah interview before the marriage, so that Harry had no way back.

If so, that’s personality disorder level evil genius conniving.

C list tv gold digger.

Bingo!

My view is that Meghan WAS bullied and smeared by the press in a racist way,
so her desire to share her version is understandable.

But they went with the most buffoonish touchy-feely medium to share their story, and Oprah transformed it into a ridiculous soap opera.

They blew their chance - had they chosen a more serious medium, they wouldn't look as ridiculous as they look now.

To add to the circus:
Meghan's father is now giving interviews to the press too (he appeared on Good morning Britain) and invited reporters into his house: :D

Watching Oprah, we were supposed to feel sorry for Meghan and Harry. No, that’s wrong. We were supposed to feel their pain. Yes. Feel it.

But stop and think.

They are Oprah’s residential neighbours. They live in an 18,000-square-foot modern house in Montecito, Calif., which the pair purchased this summer for $14.6 million.

Fair point.

Two more points:

1. The only documented racist in the Royal Family is Prince Harry who dressed as a Nazi for a party, called a British soldier a 'Paki' and has referred to people as 'ragheads'.

2. Money. The Prince of Wales who is supposed to have disowned them, gave them £5 million pounds and an income. That sound like 'disowning'?

Americans won’t believe any of that until they turn on him.

Our baby isn't a Prince? And Security costs?

1. Their children cannot have titles without changing the UK constitution - like trying to repeal the US's Second Amendment. Or until the Queen dies.

But as a result of the interview, the only Act of Parliament likely is one to remove Harry and his descendants from the line of succession. There are enough anti-monarchists, and monarchists pissed off with Harry and Meghan to make that feasible.

2,. Security? No security because their children haven't got Royal titles? That is nonsense. Whether or not they have titles is irrelevant to any security concern. While they were in the UK performing Royal duties their security was paid for by the British taxpayer at a cost of half a million pounds a year.

But now they are in the US as 'private citizens' not on a trip as Royals, their security should be their own affair. They have enough money to afford it. Why should the British taxpayer pay for people who are not performing any role for the British?

You ought to know by now that facts don’t influence americans.

And Oprah, as an 'interviewer' didn't challenge any of the so-called facts presented by Meghan.

The more that interview is examined in detail, the more lies and half-truths emerge.

The american black celebrity class wants to advance racial equality in the USA. Meghan is half black so...good enough. Throw in the royal family, diana-level emotional traumas like suicide and you have a saleable product.

The pandemic and trump killed all entertainment, so as the first entertainment event to mark a postpan-posttrump media monopoly, it will receive an outsized return.

Make money, keep racism in the news, advance the notion that american celebrity is royalty...Oprah knows how to chase a dollar bill.

I'll chime in again.

First of all, as you pointed out, it's all about the money.

What amazes me about the whole affair is the notion that people with 7+ figure incomes are somehow 'victims.' Perhaps in their own minds they've convinced themselves of that status but I suspect that in their soul of souls they know that playing the victim card is what helps sustain that income.

Even more amazing is the number of people who identify with that swill. You're only a victim as long as you want to be and I don't have a very high opinion of those that wallow in their victim-hood.

Tyler Perry & Oprah Winfrey have hooked a couple of shiny fishies to milk.

Mmmm, fish milk.

It’s not the tale, it’s the attitude.

The problem is although Americans love the British Monarchy they don’t understand it and if it’s an American involved in a dispute with a British person they will always take the side of the American because the publicising of the “celebrity” lifestyle is totally different. An example is the “chest thumping” of so many Americans as against how the British behave which is not shouting about it. A typical example is to look at British and American tv quiz shows.

The British believe in the phrase “don’t wash your dirty linen in public, especially family matters, and don’t trash your family in television. The American way is anything goes and follow the money.

And I haven’t mentioned Megan, Harry or Oprah once. Except I will say much of what Meghan said has been proved, in only a couple of days, to be false.

and she isn’t black. If anything she looks like a pale Latino.

The whole purpose of the British Royal Family, which Meghan seems not to have understood, is that of duty and service to the public.

Yes, they live privileged and sheltered lives, but they perform multiple public duties a week. Only Prince Philip, who has retired because of his age and health issues, has stopped. They attend openings, support hundreds of charities and forces' functions. Each of them is available hundreds of times a year although the Queen has reduced her workload with advancing age. They work hard doing what for many people would be an incredibly boring job.

But Harry and Meghan have walked away from that role. They want the privileged lifestyle without the work that comes with it. If you are a Royal, you accept the duties. If not? What is the point of your existence?

If Meghan honestly didn't know what the Royals did? She was either stupid or deluded.

PS: The worst interpretation of Meghan's motives is that she had NO intention that Harry should fulfil his role once they had married. If so, of course there would be arguments with the Royal family because she was challenging the whole purpose of the monarchy.

Riiiight, people with money can't be racially abused. Got it.

Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford might disagree, but what would actual black people know about that shit, amirite?

Yes. Plenty of us are the exceptions, but alas too many of my countrymen believe corporate mainstream media and its fact-free, tabloid style of misinformation, celebrity fluff, and propaganda. Keeps us from holding our own leaders accountable for their atrocities and corruption here at home. What better distraction than a way to slam a monarchy that we defied and discarded centuries back?
