I'm tardy with my morning topic, demerit points for me!

I have a confession, I posted a couple of times in a row so that I could put Sticky's post on the top of this page. Pure manipulation of the thread. People post for two basic reasons, I believe , to share their thoughts with anyone that might care or to elicit a particular response. I wonder what percentage of posts are the latter? Do you post for a particular response? Does it work? Does it give you satisfaction?

I just generally throw things out there.

ditto
Respond if you want. .
Don't if you don't want. ..lol

But then again, it does depend a little on what the topic is. Sometimes I just want to voice my opinion. It makes it clearer, in my mind at least, when I write out my thoughts. .. sometimes responses from others make me think twice about how I've approached a topic, other times they might just reinforce what I've already stated..

So, it varies.

Sometimes I want to share my thoughts, sometimes I want to discuss a topic, sometimes I just want some fun. "For a particular response"? Maybe on the "Would you kiss the person above you" thread ...

Often I want to join a conversation, contribute and see how my idea adds to the various others bouncing around.
Sometimes I join a game.
Now and then I have a real question that I feel like a particular group of people will have useful insight into.
Other times it's just for fun or to vent.
Confession--sometimes my posts are actually meant for someone specific even if they seem to be generic. the person I'm talking to knows who they are.

Happy happy hour, almost :)

Some people post with out a care in the world. Others agonize over each one. What was the biggest fear you had about posting and hiw did you overcome it?

I came online a long time ago, whatever fears I ever had about posting are so far in the past I don't recall them. On Lit, the only thing I am careful about is not referring to people by their real name. (If someone wants to put it out there, that is fine, I don't want to accidentally do it.)

Is this true?

It never crossed my mind, I say dumb stuff all the time.

Yes, people worrying how they will be perceived.
Maybe way back on the first forum I was part of but it was much stuffier than this one.
More like some sort of advanced studies class where saying the wrong thing really did make you look stupid.
This is more like detention--people just kind of goof around.

I like this better.

I agree. Life's too short to care.

Welcome to earth, where 50% of the people are below average.

Seriously, you are not alone. Even just realizing you say dumb things makes you smarter than like 40% of the people I've been forced to meet.

My point being, why go through life in the shadows because of worrying about saying something off?

Happy Saturday Litiquette-izans.

I'll put this out there. I'm cynical about all things lit. The drama that can unfold I often feel is manufactured, the events people out out wouldn't surprise me I'd they are made up. My lit friends, those I've built a relationship with and gotten to know I'm not this way with. Maybe it's a natural defense mechanism, maybe I've seen enough to question it. Maybe I just expect "do what you say and say what you" lifestyle and it's anything but.

Maybe it's just me.

a big ((((((HUG)))))) for you. ..

I agree.

And that is why we're good friends....I believe too much, we keep each other grounded. :rose:

I'm not cynical of postings or posters - I trust the surface that people put out there until they give me cause to doubt them. If I'm proved wrong by subsequent actions then I retreat and lick my wounds, because when you automatically trust its easy to get hurt. But I get over myself and always probably will.

Sometimes yes, I too am cynical about things unfolding on lit, I often say to myself "not-guilty until proven guilty" though. Some people are very open about themselves and some just want any (every) kind of attention they can get. Basically I am like May I Please on this subject.

I accept everything at face value until I have reason not to. I do that in life as well.

This life is a struggle for many people, against inner and outer demons I can scarcely imagine. I don't come into Lit expecting complete fidelity to the truth.

Between the present and the possible self what harm is there if people drift toward the possible self in their online persona? If they create a possible self and then carry a fragment of it back to better their present self more power to them.

A site like Lit is largely about erotic fantasy, erotic fiction, and I would expect that to carry into the boards as well. I don't come here with a set of expectations of the users, so I'm not really disappointed by those not being met.

I won't lend you my money, my car, my house, my girlfriend or my heart until I know you well, beyond that I am not sure what value there is in cynicism. I've been hurt, I've had life knock me down and kick the crap out of me - words on a screen just aren't going to rise very high in perspective.

Whatever a person does on Lit, I just hope they're enjoying themselves and creating good karma. If they're going to drift entirely into the possible self...make it an entertaining story. :)

Not me! I believe everything I read on the internet and especially lit. ;)

*pouncehug*

Lmao, BBB...

I suppose my answer to this since I didn't answer above,...

I don't like boundaries. So, in my real life I stretch them as far as I can manage. If people come here to fantasize about what boundaries they would like to stretch, that's probably a healthy thing to do.

It's when a person becomes so immersed in their "virtual" one yet they still try to separate it from the real?.. That's where problems begin, in my opinion.

Again, just my opinion. If you can be Bruce Wayne IRL and Batman here, knock yourself out. :D

I guess that makes me more like Tony Stark, then huh?

For ME to be your friend and trust you. .I have to know both. ..

Make sense?
