For me, zero. I am here. I'm not hiding from anyone in my life. It's good to sleep with a clean conscience, Lit wise.

However, I do have secure passwords on both my PC and my phone and only my emergency POC has them in the event I am unconscious or incapacitated and they need something off them. Like, who else to call.

I used to just post and run. I try to stay out of the line of fire most of the time. I started posting pictures, but not a lot of folks from the Playground even take the time to look, so I make a comment here and there just to let people know I ain't dead yet.

I wish I could share my lit world....and maybe I could....but at this point I think I've travelled to far down the lit rabbit hole. So, saying that, I only 'lit' with my password protected phone. In the event I'm hit by a bus, I hope my phone is crushed, lest my tragic passing convinces the phone company to unlock it for my hub!

I did have to hide my Lit activities from my ex, and I wish I didn't have to, but she was rather opinionated against all things sexual (like Lit), which differed greatly from mine. As she was not computer literate, it wasn't hard all. I later found out from my SIL that she was hiding similar activities and made her brother remove them from the computer before I discovered it.

Now that I'm divorced, I don't hide anything. I don't have to because I met my SO here. It's a wonderfully liberating feeling.

It's an old joke that suggests wearing a talisman asking for your browser history be deleted in the event of an accident.
My biggest problem is someone seeing the screen over my shoulder so I always change the preferences to not display images. I think it would be helpful if Lit had a text-only version for us sneaky people

It might save you money on PCs, short term, to use your browser's equivalent of InPrivate browsing. You'll still have to be discreet about what comes up on the screen but tracking won't be such an issue.

My hunch is the lurking crowd outweighs the posters by about 5 to 1, at least. And I can understand the value in just sitting back and reading. But eventually doesn't everyone want to be involved? For those if you that progressed from lurker to poster , why'd you do it, what was the motivation? And for you lurkers, what would it talk for you to join in?

We all have an angle for attention here at Lit. Some post naked pictures, some post super innocent and sweet things, some are direct, some try to impress with their intelligence, others their wit.

So in a "this is the price of admission" post. What's your attention getting approach.

Mine is witty banter, coupled with what I hope is intelligence and some charm mixed in.

Think of it as no fee therapy

First of all i love attention. But i guess we all do. Later, when i get it from uninteresting to me people i do not what it anymore. So then I like personalized attention. What i do to get it? I try to impress...in every possible way i can..trying to substitute the absence of my physical presence. And if i miserably fail to impress the ones i choose ( not just anyone who chooses me) i realize that its so much easier to impress in real life than online..Why is that?

One of the end user complaints of Google (and Gmail specifically) from inception was their data mining of personal information of user accounts.

I have to say when I first looked through boards I was completely baffled, especially by the appearance of long sigs and images - you could hardly find the discussion parts at all. I have those turned off in Options now.
I didn't even think about going on the threads until I felt I'd earned my position by posting a story

I lurk a lot on other forums because there are "cliques" already in place & I would feel awkward trying to break into the conversation. I made the mistake of posting early on when I joined Lit and got reamed out for a comment I made, so I became very cautious about posting after that. If I have something to say (like now) I'll say it. Otherwise...I just scroll through and give myself vertigo.

Yeah, if they want to read the stuff going on behind scenes here I don't think anything of national interest is going to be discovered.
The thing that bugs me is that there's some minor functionary being paid with our tax money to read/listen to all of that stuff.
All the boring I can understand that but here?
For what goes on here I think they should be paying us.

Sometimes it's just fun to lurk. I like reading through the posts, but a lot of the time there is nothing substantial that I could add to the conversation, so I just linger in the shadows and make random comments when I feel the need.

I was a poster.. I lurk more now.

Self preservation, I suppose, would be the main reason. .

I can only stand so much attention. I call it over stimulus.
My poor little brain is like a circuit. When it's supplied with the proper current..it works just fine, but short it out in overload and, well it's little more than a fire hazard.

The whole of Lit is a nice guilty pleasure, I don't think I could identify one part of it as being more guilty then another. Wander, chase a good conversation, have fun.

4 oz of C4, if properly placed and tamped over the hard drive of a computer, would shatter the disk itself, which you would want it to do. Improperly placed or tamped it would blow up the computer, but might not take out the hard drive. C4 kicks out a wicked little shock wave, at about 8000 m/s - but, the residual heat is relatively low. So, you would have to actually hit the drive - the risk would be that you would tear it all apart but not completely destroy the disk itself - and most importantly from a forensic recovery standpoint not melt the media from the drive (or drive fragments).

Hard drives are made of aluminum alloy, which comes it at about 20,000 PSI and they are actually pretty hard to destroy. The approved method of destruction by the Federal government for security purposes is removing the drive and using a grinder to remove all of the media from the drive, and then shred the drive itself.

Or, you could just take a 1 lb. hammer too it. Odds are our S/O's are not going to have the forensic skills to recover the data. Though, this being the modern age, they could google it and find plenty of companies to do it.
