I don't care whether people go to church or not. Many go because they always have, because its expected of them

I care whether they do anything to make things better for other people the rest of the bloody week, otherwise its plain hypocrisy

And lots of appalling things have been said and done in the name of the church - I care whether people know the difference and use their own conscience

Good answer!!!

My grandmother used to say..
the only people who go to church are those who don't have time to sit around on Sundays and gossip about the sinners.

(she made us go to church)

Heading out for a few hours, absolutely not church related ;). Carry on, you certainly don't need me to keep the conversation lively :)

Hmmm.

Growing up, I never questioned church. Our family had our own pew, we went to church on Sundays, Wednesdays, & then there was Awana.

The first time I took control of my own life, I realized there was more than one way to believe & worship...My God doesn't dwell in a brick building...he is everywhere, and he is different things to different people.

As May I stated, what is done the rest of the week is of more importance.

What humankindness will you spread today?

Exactly. Too many wars started in the name of Religion.

Just agree that there is 'Something' there and then get about helping others. Much simpler.

Meh.

I'm not feeling the HumanKindness on Lit today.

Time to hit the RealWorld...I will start my kindness kick with the sleeping BF.

The problem with this question is with the intent of PMs. Some people send friendly PMs and exchange back and forth on a regular basis with the intent on it being nothing more than fun playful banter. If it ever progresses to more than that, great. Others send PMs with the hope that it will immediately become something more. What it the other only wants a friendship of playful banter and nothing more?

A few exchanges isn't an automatic invitation for something more. I think people can stay friendly and exchange back and forth for a very long time. If responses aren't immediate, so be it. Also, just because a person is online, it does not mean you both have to be replying to PMs as well. Sometimes I reply to PMs when I'm not playing in the forums. It allows me to write a much more thoughtful in depth message.

This is along the lines of what I was thinking. It depends on the intent of the PM. It also goes along with the whys of why I don't reply to most PM's I get.

New thought....

There a a few Lit couples that I know of here, but I know there's many more.
Is it common practice to open up your PM's so the other has access to them? I had never heard of that till today.

Was wondering when that would come up.

It instills a degree of trust into the relationship. It helps to deter potential arguments. It allays any fears you might have about him/her.

I can't speak to its commonality, but being able to say 'here, I'll show you that (insert event here)' is incredibly helpful. Would you expect your SO in real life to hide his/her texts or e-mails from you? Wouldn't it be a little suspicious if they did?

I figured this might end up here.

I obviously can't speak for other couples.

I share some of mine with LTD, but I don't forward them. I just copy/paste them into our YIM conversation. The asinine one-liners, the stupid ones that make me roll my eyes, and the ones that pay him a compliment. The back and forth banter with friends, no, I do not share those. I also do not share anything personal, that is told to me in confidence. He does not have free range or access to them. I figure if someone had something to say to him, they'd PM him.

I think occasionally talking about PM conversations is common enough between couples and friends. That whole, gossip thing in general. Hopefully, the sharing of intimate personal information isn't passed on, but humans being humans, one should assume it is. I'd think handing over a password to someone is rare, but possible. The latter smells way too paranoid and controlling to me.

Hear hear.

I know that Serene has several (dozen) PM's that I don't see. I don't ask to see anything along those lines. As a matter of fact, I don't ask to see any of her PM's. She volunteers to send them to me. They are 'Private' messages after all. There are PM's I don't share with her because they have nothing to do with her. I only share the relevant ones, and if she asks to see more, then so be it.

I find the whole "couple" situations fascinating - trying to work out who's playing, who's serious, which are online and which crossover

It's rather beautiful watching the to and fro and the genuine care expressed

I do wonder whether the voyeuristic element adds to the relationships

It is fun to watch at times.

For me though, it isn't about everyone seeing how much I care about someone. It's sharing how happy I am with everyone. It's almost an overwhelming happiness, too much to contain inside just my self, and I want to share it.

One year ago today, LTD reached out to me on a thread. We were strangers, but he offered a heartfelt and sincere condolence on the status of my failing marriage. It wasn't to gain anything on his part, he was just being genuinely nice. We haven't stopped talking since.

You wrote a long post on another thread that took my breath away:heart:

I didn't know who your partner was at the time and it made me wonder

I can see how you fit together :)

That was a beautiful post. One of the very best posts I've ever read on here. It made me glad for photo, in so many ways.

You, photograph, are lucky to have LTD, and he is lucky to have you.
