The last time my daughter came for a visit she had a flat iron when it came time to go. I have AAA but made my grandson change the tire, he's 17. My daughter watched him. I instructed. I always use crises to teach my kids what to do.
I indoctrinate my kids when I model competence. My old man was self-reliant but not embarrassed to get help when needed. He always did his best, and when his best wasn't enough it was enough the next time the same problem came along. I do the same.
Most recently I sat the older grandkids down for a chat, and explained to them how vanity diplomas hurt you. Walk outta school with something you can sell that people want.

Yeah. Like I did an image search and I just couldn't wrap my head around it for some reason. Maybe narcissism? I went with strategy games...
... Monopoly was one of the most instructive. We had several variations, so she got used to working with large denominations.
~and yeah~
While they are toddlers, a quick smack on the ass is about the only thing that gets through to them, it doesn't hurt, the diaper takes all of the sting out of it but it does startle and focus them....

I went with cards. Simpler to begin with, very portable, and no setup required. The board games came later.
