And he's fine after Rita. Only lost power for a day this time.

I was talking to OldestMotive over the past several weeks and I'm sure he would have mentioned it if he thought you were in harms way. I'm glad to know you're okay and I'm sure he will be too...as long as you don't mind, I'm going to give him a heads up.

Talked to IWC tonight. She is OK and staying with her mother since she still does not have power at home.

One of my bosses lives near IWC and still has no power either. Let's hope they get it restored soon.

I'm responding to a PM request to "check-in" and let folks know that me (and my family) came through the storm just fine.

Other than a couple of days without electricity (read: airconditioning), and a messy yard, it wasn't a big deal.

I recognize what a terrible disaster this storm was for the lives of so many people, but I was hoping for a few extra days off work.

On a sadder note, my co-worker buddy (we cover for each other) knew someone who didn't make it in that bus fire.

Word also came today that my sister-in-law's father does not know whether he has a home to return to south of Lake Charles. He evacuated to Baton Rouge and is fine, but they're not letting anyone back into his area yet and the family is realistically not holding out much hope that there's anything left.

Another co-worker's family in the Golden Triangle had such extensive damage to their homes, the co-worker is moving in with her mother and turning her entire Houston home over to the affected family members while they try to salvage and rebuild.

Hello everyone, I have not had time to read through this thread, but I will as soon as I can. Just now got power for a few hours, and it will be turned off again soon. Thanks for everyones concern and caring. I am north of Houston and we only got some very high winds and thank goodness for no damage to our home. But many trees are down around us.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone that has been affected through both of these terrible storms.I know that the Lord was looking out for me, and that I and my family in Conroe were among the lucky ones. Being without power is the least of trouble compared to what others are going through.

I think the 20 hour drive gave her nightmares. She now cries everytime she sees her car seat. She wasn't too fond of the hotel, but she's better now that she's back home.
