Consequential Time Lines

Nagin and Blanco need to be tied to the whipping post. The residents should at least get one crack at them.

I am waiting to see their re-election ads... You do know that both Blanco and Nagin will be portraying themselves as the hero's of Katrina? Complete with sober but patriotic music cues. I hope they get their hats handed to them. Even the N.O. police won't vote for him, since he didn't get them the weeks paid vacations to Las Vegas.

Elections are coming around and judging by the reactions of the evacuees, things aren't going to go well for either of them.

I loved Nagins request on the Sat. after the storm. Yeah, like the NOLA police force 'earned' and an all expense paid vacation to Las Vegas at the taxpayers expense. Nailed himself to the wall as a 'pimp' there, didn't he?

...and the families who lost relatives to the flooding each get another crack for each family member lost.

That was precisely what I was admonishing people to wait for. The time line.

And characteristically, die hard one-world government Liberals, lavy being the best example, hate it and hence see it as nothing more than a Newsmaxian political hack and attack piece (because it's precisely what lavy would have offered up if given the opportunity) because they cannot finger Geroge W. Bush as the evil nigger hating send them to the gas ovens president that they firmly believe he is.

YOU CANNOT RELY ON A POLITICIAN, ANY POLITICIAN, PICK ONE, FOR ANYTHING ESPECIALLY YOUR HEALTH, WELL-BEING, AND THE SAFETY OF YOUR FAMILY. That's all on you baybee...

;) ;)

Nagin was just plain incompetent. He still is.

"Get out, get out!!!""

"Come back, come back!!!"

"Get out, get out!!!!"

"Uh, I'd like a vacation package for my backers, taxpayers expense. OK?"

Then we have Blanco trying to play hardball politics while people drowned.

As far as "I know something you don't know" Lavy, who cares? IF she knew a damn thing she'd be spewing it all over the board.

You know it. It's her MO. She's insane. She's deeply religious when it comes to government...

Nagel was elected by Democrats I assume. The same kinds that repeatedly elect Sheila Jackson Lee to office, arguably the dumbest person in politics. Maybe now they'll get the message that they've been pissing up a rope when electing Democrats to office. When will they realize that the party is, was, and will continue to be the domain and province of rich, white, guilt-ridden, ivory tower socialist Liberals?

When it comes to race, there is a glass ceiling in the Democrat Party. I've known that forever. I was raised a Democrat and remained pretty much a Dem sympathiser up through the Reagan years (although Jimmy Carter did shake my faith considerably). But I ramble... Allergy meds... Jitters... Yowser!

Ever had one of those days?

I had one of those days for a week once.

I don't see it as a Rep. vs Dem. thing bro. Both have actively engaged in building a "captive constituency" over the course of the past 140 years or so. It wasn't the Dems that created the Indian Reservations, or the reservation indian. And in New Orleans, and other poverty pits of perpetual welfare, I see nothing more than a reservation of a different sort. A people so deeply dependent on the state that they're incapable of looking after their own needs. Maybe not so much incapable, but without the skills to do so because they've never had to do so. Generation after generation have been inculcated with an entitlement mentality. It's all they know. And given that that's all they know, how can they be faulted when they behave according to everything they've been taught over all these years?

The Dems have used the sceptre of slavery and segregation to beat all detractors into submission and to demand, and mostly recieve, tithing from a huge segment of the population that never engaged in slavery, or segregation. And look at what they created with those monies? Enclaves of dependents who believe to their very soul that they are "owed."

And that's the problem we're faced with. It's far easier for politicians of any stripe to throw some money at the clamoring crowd demanding payment for sins real or imagined than it is to actually fix the problem. Fixing the problem doesn't buy votes.

Yeah. We need to revisit the concept of citizen/politician. Maybe if they discover that doing the right things can get you re-elected in this new age.

I heard someone pointing out that people polled are starting to say that the media does not sway them but rather it's people and sources that they know. We're about half a generation away from being able to pull off a nearly virtual candidacy (throw in a few visits to the old folks home to try and get the elder vote). But at the very least we need to revisit the ideals of standard and importance of ethics in public life. I'm back to the Perot years mentality of throw them all out. Both parties. Vote anti-incumbant. Send the massage again. See if they get it this time or a dose of Hillary...

;) ;) :D

It's a matter of education. Look at the heavily blue areas and what do you see? Either prosperity or abject poverty. And that's the reason I think that so many of the more affluent from those areas continuously vote to throw more money at those that are less gifted or motivated. (And the reason the recipients of that largess continually vote for more as well. Who would pass up a free lunch?) It's not really out of some altruistic spirit of human decency, no matter their protestations otherwise. It's merely the thought that if you throw enough money that way they'll stay on the 'reservation' and you won't have to look at them until you want a dose of guilt. Then you can visit the 'reservations' and take pictures.

Reading the time line makes me want to find a piece of debris and beat Nagan about the head and shoulders.

That's what good propaganda does to you.

Ishmael's carefully constructed revisionist history of Katrina has one and only one purpose: Protect the President.

It MAY have MILDLY reflected the views of the writer. However, it seemed to be to be a well written and objective view. It also contained nothing I, and surly others, didn’t already know. It was nice to see it in order and all in one place though.

Good post Ish.

Just my opinion, but local and state dropped the ball. The bad part is it’s almost sure to cause more federal control of nearly everything

MAY have MILDLY...*snicker*

One of the more salient points conveniently omitted from Ishmael's revisionism is how Blanco declined the Federal Gummint's original offer of help because the Ishmael wing of the Bush Administration insisted on adding all these strings to the aid, most noticeably having the Federal Government take direct control over all police and medical personnel in Louisiana. Tell me, was Guiliani ever asked to step aside on 9/11?

I think if you reversed the roles here and had a Democrat president and a Republican Governor and Mayor, you'd hear it from the other side of Ishmael's mouth..."Oh woe is me, meddlesome government intervention, death of the Constitution, yada yada yada."

Actually Nagin was a Republican before doing a party switcheroo prior to his first mayoral primary.

Don't you love the way some people take issue with the truth? Liberals just can't tolerate facts and logic.

That's what my teacher says about the bucks. All they got to do is get a job!

He cannot help it if he is a rabid yellow-dawg Democrat. The old fashioned southern kind that used to hate niggers, kites, spics, and wops...

Yep, the governor of Louisiana jumped right in and took care of the medical issues related to Katrina and New Orleans. What a compassionate peach she is.

Doctors

Check the date out on that little blurb. There were 100's of doctors standing around with their thumb up their collective asses for almost a week. Unable to tend to business because they weren't "licensed to practice" in the State of Louisiana.

Damn, she's right on top of things.

Like I said at the time, Logistics ain't easy...

Don't move an army over night.

Gotta feed that people's crusade lest the natives of foreign lands turn on them!

Calling me a racist, now? tsk

Do I need to quote your haughty Polity of Children screed?

The same party that put the Stars & Bars on the GA flag in 1956 to protest school desegregation.
