Hurricane Check In Thread

Actually, on your poll, the position that the sticky is OK leads 27-12. Hardly 50-50.While the notion that you are a courageous freedom fighter on Lit is laughable, I will commend you on having the balls to try to slide such a bald faced lie past people.

OK, thanks for the clarification.

The ones who freaked out, again, are:

Killswitch
Nawtee
SleepingPoindexter
NipplesMcGee

KS claims that STD did also, but I saw his post. Posting "I don't like it" one time does not constitute freaking out.

OK, who are the other 8?

I am sure there are some people who had reasonable objections to the sticky, but had the good graces not to make assholes of themselves over it.
Actually, its more like 38-13. Perhaps KS is using that " new math" to do his calulations

Gee....votes going seriously the other way in the last three hours and no one bumped it.

lol

My numbers are accurate before the alts trolled the vote.

Oh the people who've been without power for the past couple of days start to come back to the boards...

Queersetti just wants attention from the texas boys. He's heard the rumor that in texas it's all steers and queers.

Just checking in. Thanks so much for starting this thread, someplace. BlondGirl is safe and sound at work. I am in Ft Worth for a visit with my son.

You know there are a lot of people who rarely post on the GB or any other board for that matter, but are regular lurkers here and else where. ;)

Whoot! Two more checked in. Thanks for letting us know. Tell BlondGirl "hello" for us -- I wondered if she'd be working over the weekend. Stay safe and call us when you get back to town.

I'm up near Dallas in Denton stayng with freinds.. We left Houtson Wed evening and arrived here 13 1/2 hours later (normally a 4 1/2 hour drive). I took a lot of back roads, missed a lot of traffic.. but it was still bumper to bumper from Livingston to Diboll going up 59.. God that was long drive.. Looks like we won't be headed back till Wed.. I'm in Baytown and sewage plant broke down so they can't procees water.. so dinking water is limited.

Just an idea but if anyone up here in the Dallas area want to throw together a get together somewhere I think it waould be neat. I'd try but I don't know this area or where might be a good place to meet.. Or is any other displaced Lit people who want to meet PM me.. we'll find a place

Thanks for the thread..

The roads are going to be a mess the next couple of days anyway. You're better off staying up there. PM Red Rose about the Dallas crew. Glad to hear you're all safe!

My uncle lives in Brownsville, I like to call it the last city in Texas. ( Way down south on the Gulf and the whole family is originally from there).
Me, over here out West in Cal and just talked to him over the cell.

Surprisingly didn't hit them that bad considering the location. He didn't have to migrate up to more northern parts like on other hurricane occasions. Although the heavy rains and the remnants of Rita might start to cause flooding as expected. "It ain't over yet", as he put it. But glad to know he's doing ok and safe.

How many more Mother Nature?

Sticky? WGAF But glad it was you Q.

I did, it was full and now it is not.

*hugs* back at you!

Safe and sound

Attempted to leave Houston at 4 am Thursday morning. After 7 1/2 hours I was getting low on gas and had to go back home. I made it all of 18 miles. But it only took me 20 minutes to get back home. So much for evacuation plans!

All is fairly well now so cross my name off the list. Thanks!

Pagen

I drove to Montgomery Wednesday night and got caught up in the traffic. It took us about 3-1/2 hours to go 3 miles at the end of Woodlands Parkway. That was enough to convince me we were better off in our home.

Thanks for letting us know you're okay!

just to clear up any confussion, provide some perspective...

Houston Evacuees Start Trip Home as Rita Cleanup, Rescue Begins

Sept. 25 (Bloomberg) -- Thousands of Houston evacuees, spared the worst of Hurricane Rita, began to return home today as U.S. President George W. Bush toured areas of coastal Texas and Louisiana, where some areas were flooded by storm surges as high as 15 feet.

Residents of the northwest quadrant of Houston, the nation's fourth-largest city, are the first to be allowed to return. The oil-refining centers around Houston and Galveston, source of about 12 percent of U.S. supply, weren't as hard hit as expected after Rita veered to the north. The $6 billion in claims insurers are expected to face is well below estimated damage from Katrina.

Bush will be briefed on Rita recovery efforts today in San Antonio and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The evacuation of almost 3 million people from the two states ahead of the storm reduced the number of people stranded, reducing the need for the thousands of rescues that were required in Katrina's aftermath.

``All of the plans that were put in place I think have, in large part, mitigated many of the potential deaths we could have had,'' U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson said during a press conference. ``Yes, we will have property damage but we are going to have very few deaths.''

The controling editor of Lit has so far not commented.

Sorry, nobody told me what you did for a living. Glad to hear you're alright, though.

Am glad Rita wasn't as nasty as expected and many are checking in as A-Okay.

But for an adult site - there sure are a lot of immature twats and tools in here.

Killswitch, for someone who didn't want to have to see this thread, I bet you've posted more times in it than anyone else. You're so disgusting.

Thanks. Too bad the motel didn't have free internet so she could tell us herself. I home her home is okay when she gets back to it.
