Harry Reid and Barack Obama want a government shutdown.

Not really, active duty military are classified as essential personnel, and both the House and the Senate passed a bill yesterday to pay the military, so unless Obama is personally against paying them, they will be paid.

But you told us yesterday that was unnecessary!

You told us that President Obama had "statuatory authority" to pay the troops!

Were you lying to us then? Or are you lying to us now?

:D

DOW, NAS, S&P. all up. We should shut down the government more often.

People are dumping gold and buying stocks.

Gold is down $50 per ounce so far in intraday trading.

Better clean up your mining gear, you're gonna need a lot moar gold to pay your bills.

I see Obama is again in front of the cameras to trot out his systematic campaign of lies about who shut down the government. Mr. Divider is there to set the stage for some more threats of unilateral imperial action, like perhaps raising the debt limit on his own...you now, to protect us from that evil faction of one house, of one part of the government, who threatens the nation's security. I fully expect this tin horn to go full Adolf Hitler before too long, if he isn't stopped with impeachment articles.

Now he's making excuses for the failure of his Obamacare websites. This idiot has had three years and unlimited amounts of money to get it right, but this is the government after all who can't run anything.
Unlimited amounts of money? Did you pay off your tax debt then?

You idiot, go take a look at the trendline. Other than gas and lights, insurance, cable, taxes, minor out of pocket expenses, I don't owe anyone any money, so I don't have to worry about paying bills to any large degree.

God bless Medicare and Social Security.

Keepin' non-productive members of society such as yourself alive!

:D

No I didn't.
Yes. You did. You also misspelled Republicans as "Democrats"

Michael Cohen theguardian.com said:
There is one party that is solely to blame for the first government shutdown in 17 years. And it's the Republican party.

Indeed, the debate happening in Washington right now is not even between Democrats and Republicans. It's not even about the deficit, or the budget, or government spending priorities. Rather, it is one strictly occurring between Republicans who are trying to find some magic bullet to destroy "Obamacare" – the country's fiscal health be damned.

The fact is Rob, the law the Supreme Court authorized isn't the law we have today. The President himself has taken unconstitutional action to change the law to favor his cronies and big business, several times creating exceptions not authorized by the law. So I ask, how many "do overs" do you libs require?.

I know you really Really REALLY want me to "play defense", but the simple fact of the matter is that Obamacare is essentially unchanged from the law that went before the Supreme Court.

Of course, being a Vietnam-era Marine, you lack the personal integrity to admit this.

The one thing the Supremes overturned (correctly) was the Federal requirement that states increase Medicaid.

Everything else remains the same. No more pre-existing condition limitations, no more policy caps.

We're on the road to single payer, and there's not one God damned thing you or your fellow travellers can do about it!

SOMEBODY PLAY MY THEME MUSIC, BROTHER!

Bull shit. Parroting Tom Graves (R-Ga) doesn't make it any more true than when he said it.

The only unilateral change by the administration that was made without involving congress was to delay the employer mandate because systems were not in place to implement it. All other changes to the ACA were done through congressional votes. In fact, a majority of the changes originated in Congress.

No I didn't.

The House is well within its constitutional authority to determine what gets funded and what doesn't get funded, It does not have to take the direction of the majority leader of the Senate demanding a vote on funding legislation created by the Senate. The House passed a revenue bill, the majority Leader of the Senate refused to take it up. Thus bringing about the shutdown.

It was Reid who refused to negotiate with the House, demanding they pass a Senate created funding resolution saying, “All they have to do is accept what we already passed,” as if the Senate had the constitutional authority to direct the House of Representatives in matters of spending the people's money. It does not.

It's called "Majority Rule".

Try googling it some time.

You and your Teahadist buddies gambled...and you lost.

And you'll remember, the House refused to have an up-or-down vote on the clean CR. Remember those rationalizations you were gutlessly spewing just yesterday?

You lost. Big time.

Which Obama does not have the authority to do under the law. Show me where the law gives the President this authority.

You keep yammering about this.

Why not urge your congressman to impeach the negar if you feel that strongly about it? You've been pushing for that since November 2012.

Sore loser.
