Going forward, I will np longer use THE N word...because of this

A child leads the way.

Personally, I don't use the word. There are a hundred ways to take a man down without stripping away his dignity, or questioning the value of his humanity.

We have the right to say anything we want here on Lit and Laurel has given us an enormous sand table on which to play out our various debate strategies and tactics.

Like any form of warfare, verbal or real, appropriate levels of response should be a part of one's planning. In war, generals loathe to go "nuclear" because it denies them as well the ability to maneuver, seize, and hold, strategic ground, the "high ground" if you will. It's the same here, when you go nuclear and use the N-word you devastate the target and prevent yourself from occupying the "moral" high ground. Free speech requires responsibility lest in the in the end we turn the sand table into a littler box.

well said, VETTE

I have ceded the high ground, indeed

I wallow WITH THEM in the gutter:(
