exercise - motivation/advice

ok, bad day today. The a late (late, late) night soccer match and then couldn't get to sleep. All I can think of is chocolate, chocolate chip cake with creamy chocolate icing and vanilla ice-cream. Didn't do the run this morning, may or may not do abs tonight. Just too tired. How did you do Cama?

I'm using a glute press weight machine for ass, but as you don't go to a gym, get something you can use as dumbells (dumbells, for instance! Or full cartons of milk) and do lunges.

Shaping the glutes will help you fit better and more attractively into most clothing. With a narrow waist and good sized, firm glutes you achieve a bell like shape at the hips that helps pants and skirts stay up without an uncomfortably tight belt. You also won’t experience the habit of wearing your pants or skirts too high on the waist.

The glutes are strengthened, shaped and solidified by any exercise or activity that works the muscle groups adjoining them. Glutes are also toned by directly training or flexing the gluteal muscles themselves.

Check out the following exercises:

1. The Deadlift
The Deadlift is performed generally by bending at the knees and grasping a barbell in front of you. Wear a weight belt for this exercise. Lift with the legs as you stand and straighten the back once standing. Perform high reps with less weight to really work the bottom.

2. The Squat
The Squat should be performed with a squat rack and a spotter. You should wear a weight belt and there should be padding or a towel around the barbell where it will rest on your neck. Resting the bar on your neck with your spotter behind you, grasp the bar evenly overhand. Stand up the rest of the way and step back carefully. Squat down till your thighs are parallel with the floor and stand up fully again. Do high reps and low weight for the glutes.


3. The Leg Press
The Leg Press is done on a leg press machine. Press the leg press out and let it back again. High reps, low weight. Always to exhaustion.


4. Gluteal Flexing
Gluteal flexing can be done anytime, anywhere you are not concerned about the practice being noticed. Simply learn how to tighten and release the muscles of your gluteus maximus (Pretend there is a $50 bill between your cheeks). Do it successfully and you can begin to do repetitions. Once you have doing controlled reps down you can do hundreds a day if you like. Do them fast or slow to work them two ways

Hi everyone....I didn't read back thru all the pages but i was wondering if anyone has tried Pilates? i'm 45 and about 5/9 and weigh about 165. i would like to lose about 15 or 20 lbs. but mainly i want to tone up. I have big hips and thighs :rolleyes: any suggestion for an old lady :D

YYYY suggested Callanetics, which is supposed to be very good. I wanted to try Pilkates, but I can't afford the classes :eek:

So...I'm no help at all really :D but hello anyway.

thanks for the welcome. i was going to try some of the videos for Pilates actually. I checked out Curves....don't think that's really for me. It's expensive and they do it on a yearly basis where it's automatically deducted from your checking account monthly which i don't like.

Yearly? Ouch, that does sound nasty! I like the idea of a video bacsue you can do it in your own home, and you can do as much or as little as you want, so there's no excuses for not going!

I only go to the gym becasue I'm very lucky - my uni gym is £60 for the year. Soooo ridiculously cheap! :D

Ended up smacking my head into the chair and dumping over the table holding my coffee cup. The ball then went flying into the air, hit the ceiling and came back to smack me in the belly. That was enough of that.

lol... you have to like how Bruce helps you shape your ass up so that he can smack a nice hard ass. ;)

Welcome Horny.
I've never done any pilates, but have heard good things about it. It looks kind of like yoga to me, but isn't. However, at 5/9 and 165lbs I don't know if you'd have to lose that much weight (I'm the same height and am pretty sure I'm above that. I haven't been on a scale in years, so don't know). I wouldn't worry about the losing weight part and just focus on the toning and making yourself feel better.

How are things going? I've been very tired this week, but still unable to sleep. I hate that.
Got a run in this morning.
Have been able to sit on the ball without it falling over.... now for the challenging part ;)

I take it you were hungry. That's ok, sometimes its important to spoil oneself. You just need to do some jumping and pushing and sweating :nana:

I was ... and the first three eggs were a little to hard boiled for soft boiled so the last one was to even it up ... best thing I can say is no butter was involved ..

Well ... yes ... soft-boiled eggs that are too dry ... it's not a good thing ... and if that has given you a chuckle then it's a good thing ;) ;)

really need to hit the bike today ...
