I don't know. One of my oldest friends is an alcoholic and told me all about this issue, but he chose to keep drinking. I've always quoted GI Joe with "Knowing is half the battle." If he isn't aware of this being a serious issue, then he should be. I'm the last person that should be giving advice on just about anything, though. If you're truly done and are 99.9% ready to leave, maybe that would be leverage enough to motivate him to seek change.
