DO YOU REMEMBER...

It was on there. Apparently they have taken it off, however when I visited their website there is an addy where ppl can send email or write them and tell them they want it back on. I have listed it here

http://petticoat.topcities.com/writetotvland.htm
They took it off just before Christmas and replaced it with Carol Burnett and Fantasy Island--plus juggled a couple of other old shows time slots.

Hey Arden, this would make a great new thread!!

The First Rock Concert I went to was when Pink Floyd did thier
"Dark side of the Moon" tour!! It was awesome!! They played the baseball stadium in Milwaukee Wis back in the mid 70's! Oh man what a concert!! That was when people used to get along and Security wasn't quite as strict as they are now. We brought in a quarter barrel on the back of a friends wheelchair and just had one helluva party!! They played for what seemed like hours...into the evening when it got dark...and the whole thing ended in a shattering explosion of pink fireworks and hordes of balloons!! It's was certainly one I'll never forget!!
Remembering the days when you could bring cameras into concerts. lol... I saw them only once, maybe a few years after you did. The "Dark Side Of The Moon" album rocked ;)

Reading through this thread is like reliving my life. I remember Saturday morning TV line-up. Sky King, a pilot , his niece Penny, and the plane"songbird", fighting the bad guys. Then there was My Friend Flicka, Howdy Doody Time with Buffalo Bob, Clarabel, Phinius T Bluster. And Death Valley Days with the "old ranger" and Twenty Mule Team Borax. Ah, such innocents we were.
You reminded me of all the cereal commercials they used to barrage us with on Saturday mornings...

Anyone remember Crispy Critters? I remember when they added an orange moose character in the box...

"Call for orange moose
call for orange moose
La la la la la la la la
Call for orange MOOOSE!"

How about the original "Sugar Bear"?

LOL

My first concert was Yes on their "Fragile" album tour at the Memorial Coliseum here in Portland, OR in September 1972. I remember the big thing was their concert had the first laser light show, which was cool at the time. I loved their keyboardist, Rick Wakeman, and the 12,000 people there went crazy when they played 'Roundabout'. I also remember bitching up a storm at paying the horridly expensive price for fourth row tickets...10 dollars apiece. LOL Ahhhhh, those were the days! :) LOL
I saw a Yes concert when I was a junior in HS... about the same time Roundabout was a huge hit.

I've seen all good people turn their heads each day
so satisfied I'm on my way.

Remember the contining TV drama "Peyton Place" with Ryan ONeal, Mia Forrow, ane ect.? I think it had an all star cast. My sisters and I were hooked. After a lull, they tried to revive the series without the same success.
I remember the first time I saw Mia in "Rosemary's Baby"... yikes, I was a bit too young to appreciate it. Gave me the creeps!

Ya'll are bring back somemajor memories for me.. but then isn't that the point of this thread .. :D

Here's a couple more movies that were 'profound' at the time...Liz Taylor in Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? Also, loved watching Jane Fonda's bod in Barbarella...:D

Working the Milwaukee Auto show last night, I spoke with a gentlman about gas wars. Who here remembers gas wars.
I used to love working the auto shows back when I worked for an auto dealer... $100.00 bucks a day to hang out and show cars sure beat pounding the pavement. I especially liked working the State Fair of TX in the Auto Pavillion. If we worked the late day shift, we could walk outside and listen to bands playing. ;)

When we moved here back in 1964, the gas station down the block had gas for about 12.9 cents a gallon.. they had several gas wars and it dropped as low as 9.9 if I remember right.. I remember many a time my mom pulling and getting $1 worth.. and getting change back sometimes...

Oh AA...no need to feel old...at least NOT by yourself. I would have KILLED to see YES in concert!! Roundabout was a good tune, but "Seen all good people" was and is still my all time favorite! I saw an MTV special about a year ago...thye played the last YES LIVE concert....and it was fantastic!! Wish I would have been smart enuff to tape it!!

CRISPY CRITTERS???????...Oh wow..now I AM going back!! What about Quake and Quisp....and does anyone remember King Vitamin?? I actually saw a box of this in a dinky grocery store last time I was down South...

I love this thread!!

Absolutely--had one of those as a child and loved it. Did you also have an Etch-A-Sketch like I did? I used to spend hours with that thing drawing pictures and letters...then it would get accidentally bumped or shaken--Poooooooooof....there went your artwork! LOL

Didn't every kid have one at some time in their childhood? Just a few years ago I had a miniature one that was also a keychain. Loved it! I have never been able to draw, but I came up with some pretty creative things on the etch a sketch!

Also that guy picture that had metal shavings and you had a "pencil" with a magnet and you could move it around to make beards or hair on his bald head. I loved that, too!

Did anyone every play "Operation"? And of course, the one thing we got just about every Christmas was a slinky. My aunt and uncle got my cousins that EVERY year and within a week my uncle was ready to kill us all and throw them in the trash, because they would either get tangled or stretched out and would work. The plastic ones that they have now are not as fun. You can still find the metal ones sometimes.

There is a show on HGTV called Hey Remember! I was watching it last night when I couldn't sleep. This is some of things that they had on it.

Pogo Stix - I could sort of do that, not very good
Croquette set - loved that game and horse shoes(that was not on the show, just remembered it)
Silly Putty - they told how much it sold and how kids loved to make things and copy the comics on it, etc...but originally it was made as an adult toy!!!
Laminate tables then later the laminate counter tops. They talked about what an impact that had on American kitchens. There is a company here in Temple, Tx Wilson Art Laminate and they still make laminate and showed how it was made. This was a really big deal in the '50's.
Remember the first answer machines. Did you know that the very first answering machine was invented in 1935? It was about 3 ft square, very hard to operate. Even the original ones that homeowners had, the tapes would break, etc..

When they came up with caller id, it is hard to believe what we did before we could screen all our calls!

The Lava lamps and wave lamps??

Sand art and string art?

macrame? My grandmother used to do it. There was macrame everything. We had macrame purses, there were always those macrame plant holders, some that could be used as hanging chairs, etc..

Another thing that they had on the show was the old push mowers. We had one of those once, but it wouldn't cut. We always loved "mowing" the lawn with dad with our play lawn movers, and then of course, when we got older had to use the real one!

And who could forget raking up the leaves and then jumping in the middle of them or bury one of your siblings!

YES has several DVDs out now.. mostly of concerts. The one I've seen was great.

Yes

I saw the 90125 concert. Not my favorite album but, it was good to see Yes back together (and of course the concert was stellar). They have so many excellent tunes, but one of my favorites is " Machine Messiah" (off of Drama). Jon Anderson also has an excellent solo album called "Olias of Sunhillow"...very cool.
Speaking of remembering...anyone ever play with Lite-Brites? (I think that's what they were called). You put the colored pegs in the holes and it's lit from behind. Etch-A-Sketch, Operation, Slinky...major flashback!

Don't forget Play Dough, toni...and the silly putty was always fun. We used to press it flat on part of the Sunday comics in the paper, so the the image would transfer to the silly putty...then stretch it and make it look warped and humorous. I was raking leaves last fall and the neighbor's kids had a ball jumping in the piles...great memories.
