hongluobo said:Well I have two double culture kids... and both are very smart and handsome/beautiful. The Chinese here in China say that Eurasian kids are naturally smarter. Don't know if that is true, but I am a proud poppa![]()

The new term among expats is TCK--third culture kids.

hongluobo said:Oh, as an international school board member, I have had that one up the bejeeepers..... another new pop psy term for the counselors to justify their existence... And TCK is all expatriate kids..... not just the happa/doubba kids.
(sorry for being rough on that one.. there is some validity to the interpretation/distinction, so long as the interpretation serves people in a positive way - its just that I know a teacher who latched onto having been brought up TCK to blame for her own life's woes)
RomanHans said:I'm with ya there, Hon...with demographic globalization, culture is now independent of ethnicity...I was born in Japan, but I'm clearly American in my cultural upbringing and outlook, with my Japanese heritage serving just to make me aware that American culture is not the only filter to use when viewing the world (something that certain people here in my current area of residence never learned)...I'm not sure what TCK is supposed to signify, but it could easily be shorthand for pigeonholing children with specific ethnic backgrounds!
I'm amused by your comment about Chinese impressions about Eurasian kids...I know many other than myself, and we ain't all that! But I imagine that native Japanese probably have much the same stereotype!

hongluobo said:We are on the same page Roman.... and you are a true American mutt like so many of us are..... let's see my kids are an English, Hakka, Hokkien, Scottish, Anglo Irish, Dutch, French blend with perhaps some Vietnamese and other strains hiding out in the closet.
TCK is really about kids who grow up in countries other than the country of their ancestry or citizenship.
I would love to get into a conversation with you on global culture, stereotyping et. al. have much to say on those subjects, but we wouldn't want to bore folks here with that.
(pet peeve... the word Westernized/Westernization...to describe the inevitable culture result of urbanization and economic development in non-western nations)
RomanHans said:I agree about not wanting to bore the other posters--but if you're inclined to hijack the thread in that direction, I'll be right there with ya!
And while I don't think that mixed race, multi-ethnic kids are smarter than any others, I personally find them to be cuter...I'm sure yours are no exception. Except for some reason, my wife thinks that Tiger Woods is ugly...go figure!

fleur d'amour said:Thank you hong. I'm a hip hop dancer. I don't do it as a profession, but more for my own stress-relieving purposes. I generally choreograph dance steps with a few of my friends and just go from there. It's a passion of mine. Who knows, maybe one day I'll teach dance....![]()

Not sure if the mixed ethnicity children are smarter.... but one of the reason is that the kids had the chance to learn at least 2 languages in the young ages..... maybe their brain are being developed in the younger ages ? Just my thought.

Hopefully going to do some breakdance too in the future. I've been teaching myself everything but it looks like I'm going to have to give in and go to classes soon![]()
erc25 said:Hello folks,
Thanks for the warm welcome. Sorry I had not been able to get online in the last few days. My final week here, and I barely had any time to sleep.
Anyway, I came on literotica around January this year. First got attracted by the stories here. After that, I started to explore the chat rooms and the bulletin board here.
How is everybody doing ? Just finished reading any news I could found online about the war going on now. Sad it has to be ended this way.
