Considering competition, margin of victory, etc. Who is tops? I'm including NASCAR because it's a team sport in all reality and not including truly individual sports like tennis or golf or bowling.

No competition, 90's Bulls.

I think you're a little biased. You've got Scottie Pippen tattooed on your ass and Dennis Rodman's love chile.

No one's said Celtics? I'm not but they have a hell of an argument.

11 championships right?

I actually knew a woman who dated Scottie Pippen and was surprised when he acted like an ass toward her after a while. Gee, what a shocker!

I must admit those are all great dynasties and I had a hard time choosing. I picked the 1960's Celtics. They OWNED the league at that time. There is one glaring hole in your list though, that would be the late 60's-mid 70's UCLA basketball team. 85? 87? wins in a row and all those NCAA championships must mean something.

Harlem Globetrotters.
The record speaks for itself....

True. UCLA does have the greatest dynasty among college teams.

I wanted to stay pro just because someone would come up with a squash team or something.

I also couldn't include THE BIG RED MACHINE and many other dynasties because there's only 10 spots above.

Could have taken off the 80's Celtics. They were good but not great (IMO). Any of those Yankee's teams should be considered, they have what...26-27 championships since 1921 or something. Thats a championship every 3 years almost! Thats a record that will never be touched.

How could you not include a team that featured so many greats playing against another dynasty in the Lakers?

That's what made the 80's Celtics great. They were sort of like the 70's Cowboys playing the foil to the Steelers.

Good point. But a dynasty should last longer than 5-6 good years. The Celtics puttered out faster than the Lakers. The Celts and Lakers dominated the 80's, I just think the Lakers were the true dynasty of the 80's.

Secretariat won the Triple Crown and no one else has done so yet. He lost twice, once while he had a respiratory virus and the other time cause he just did.

He was voted #35 of the top North American athletes of the 20th century, the only non-human to hold that.

He still holds records, even after a quarter of a century. He'll beat Michael Jordan with impressive records-- except for number of retirements.

Every screams Man-O-War, but the fact is that MOW couldn't run as fast as Secretariat did.

He's also the only dynasty on this list that got paid millions of dollars to make babies.

See, that's great but IT WAS A FUCKING HORSE!!!

No individual sports allowed, if we're to call horse racing a sport.

C'mon Muffin, if you're gonna be a 'neck you've gotta talk Petty or Gordon. Kansas 'necks are not impressing me.

1.Seattle Slew and Affirmed won the Triple Crown after Secretariat did.
2.Yes only non-human to be named to that list. That does say alot.
3.Little known fact maybe... Sec had a much bigger engine going for him and that definately helped with his speed and endurance. (His heart was 2 1/2 times larger than that of the normal horse)
4. Slew's prodigy won many more races than Sec's ever did, and everytime an offspring of Slew came out to be sold they were always sold for very high prices.

But all in all Sec was the greatest horse to ever race.

Montreal Canadians in the '50s. And Edmonton Oilers in the '80s.

I know fuck-all about NASCAR, but I'm tempted to say "Richard Petty" just so riff will come in and start ranting.

For what it matters....the 40-50' Yankees get my vote, you did list some pretty dominating teams though.

I didn't include hockey but I would think the 80's and 90's Edmonton and Islanders teams faced the stiffest competition and made the best of it.

This shows major American bias.

Phar lap was the greatest horse ever.

Damn Chef, ya beat me to it :)

Also try looking up Kingston Town and Octagonal.

Since only US teams were listed, my vote went to "other" because of the St. George Dragons in the National Rugby League in Australia.

In 1956 St George began their reign as Premiers.
This reign would last until 1966 and would cover an unprecedented 11 victories.

Names like Proven, Langlands, Gasnier, Raper and Smith would become household names.

The 1959 team remained unbeaten throughout the season.

In 1962, a photo titled "The Gladiators" became an icon when Saint's Norm Provan and West's Captain Arthur Summons exhibited wonderful sportsmanship after St George defeated Wests 9-6 in one of the muddiest Grand Finals ever.

http://www.showroom.com.au/dragons/dragonshistory/sh_gladiators.JPG

On the afternoon of August 24, 1963 Saints won the Grand Final in all three grades
First Grade 8-3 Wests
Reserves 5-4 Souths
Thirds 12-2 Canterbury

St George set another record in 1965 when a crowd of 78, 056 League supporters packed the SCG to see them take on Souths.

The end of Saints reign in this era came in 1966 when St George won their 11th Premiership defeating Balmain 23-4.
