It doesn’t matter as long as it’s quilted. We have to keep traditions alive and the thought of keeping thousands of young quilters employed who would otherwise be addicted to opioids or having unprotected sex makes me feel like I’m giving them a hand up.

I participate in the traditional ceremonies of my tribe. I also pass on knowledge of those ceremonies, what they are, what they mean, too younger tribal members who might be interested. If they’re really interested, then I would put them in contact with the traditional medicine man that I’m associated with (been friends since we were kids). I explain various ceremonies to non-tribal members, but not in the role of a teacher, just an ordinary person.
