As North Korea have admitted to trying to build an atomic bomb...

Does anyone know just what kind of crack this morwen character is on?

Speaking of lack of debate skills, I don't seem to remember shouting being one of them outside of college campii...

Of course, us 12-year olds recognize the behavior of the 2-year olds whom we are charged with sitting for.

Well of course why should England go off to defend English oil? You created this Iraq country, we can get our oil out of Russia, Alaska, and Venezuela, we keep peace in the Gulf for what? For who? For assholes like you? Forget it.

Hi Morwen, another nice av . . . the reason that the U$ is in the Middle East is to guarantee supply of oil to the U$ nation from the Saudis especially, but also form other sources like Kuwait. There are two major, very major, undeveloped oil reserves in and around the Middle East. Three large fields under Iraq representing 20% of the world's undeveloped reserves, and another 16% in what is known as the Central Asian oilfields.

The Iraq fields have agreements with French and Russian oil producers for development, while the PR China has built a 4,000 km pipeline from the Central Asian fields to carry about $US 16 billion per year gas to China. In all these deals the U$ has been excluded. The only way that the U$ can get back into the deal is to hold a lovely war and install some guttersnipe puppet leader, like they did with Saddam Hussein, and have that puppet renege on the established deals in favour of U$ oil Corporations.

To add insult to injury the Saudis recently rejected a U$ oil consortium bid of $US 25 billion to develop a major gasfield, saying that the Saudis wanted to develop their own petrochemical industry and enter the lucrative top end of over 4,000 petroleum products that return more profit than crude petroleum. Naturally the U$ oil corporations were a little "disappointed" by this decision and immediately had "their man in Washington" make loud, war-like anti-Saudi noises to spread terror of U$ retribution for this rebuttal. After all, everybody knows that it is a God-given right for a U$ oil corporation to rip off undeveloped reserves anywhere they like in the world, and the Saudis were usually so nicely compliant in the past.

Outside the U$ we have learnt the hard way that the U$ does little or NOTHING for its "friends" that does not principally benefit the U$ or its corporations. :)

Saudi Arabia is one rich mother-fawking country and I sure as hell don't hear them squawking about being ripped off by ANY U$ Oil Company...

They LOVE the fawkers! FLy 'em in, wine 'em, dine 'em, take 'em up to Monaco.

HELLO! WAKE UP! MOVIE OVER MAN! NEWSFLASH! BUSH NOT SAURON... Part to be played by Chinaman to be named later... RawRumor has it that Saddam pissed as hell at being cast as bit-part evil man Saruman... More... Developing...

Someone (can't remember who) tried to claim the moral high ground by claiming the US went into Afghanistan with altruistic motives. Very few countries do anything with altruistic motives. The closest there is is John Howard who appears to be going into Iraq to be nice to George W.

Morwen: Britain is an oil exporting country as North Sea Oil is one of the few sources outside of OPEC. It may not be cheap, but at least we're (relatively) stable.

Where did you get this thing about London being filled with 'hate mosques'? London was, at my last look, filled with Londoners and Australians. It's not as though we're harbouring and supporting Al Quaeda.

Unlike America who harboured and actively supported IRA terrorists, because of some vague idea that they were freedom fighter, rather than nailbombers.

PS. Nice av. :D Foxy lady.

A teensy fraction of the money being spent by the USA on hating ragheads, if invested instead in the Ballard fuel cell, could neatly turn its dependancy on raghead oil upside down in a couple of years.

Just like the invention of synthetic rubber was strategically intelligent in WWII.

I miss American Know How & Can Do thinking.

The North Sea oil is NORWAY'S!
Got that? NORWAY'S... If you want to claim that you had better be prepared to go to war with Norway to take control of it.

I like Morwen too, of course that will probably be temporary as sooner or later she will probably flame me for something or another.

Britain consumes 9.88 quadrillion btu's of energy a year.
The UK produces between 4.7 and 5 billion barrels of crude a year.

The U.S. produces 22 billion barrels of crude a year.

BOTH yours AND our domestic oil production is NOT enough to make-up for our national consumption.

Hence NEITHER of us are true oil producers which is also why we are not part of OPEC.

DUH.
