we spent nine hours together
on a mission for sand,
her head outside the window,
wind pulling away her problems.

We sang with the national
and let the baritone buzz
so heavy that we numbed
and only felt each other.

her feet rested on me,
they were on my shoulder,
I looks over at her
and I kissed her heel.

we could smell the salt
as the sun was setting.
she turned up the music
and we let it invade.

the moon looked like headlights,
reflecting off the water.
our bodies were still buzzing;
we could feel our soundtrack.

the rhythm of our blood,
our breath like cymbal scrapes.
every part of us, reverberation,
pupils dilating in glowing falsetto.

when the music finally stopped,
we were silent and random.
we were breathing for survival,
staring at stars like miracles.
