How do I know that tariff workarounds are the worst kept secret in import export? Because they are. I have friends in the industry. Ports are grossly under regulated; most foreign co can work around most import/ export duty and excise taxes by creating a Canadian company, which can then do business in America. I don’t have time to link you with the many articles on this issue, but if I can make some time, I will find them for you.

Mexico was already stopping caravans and with the new President dedicating even more resources to that. Add in the improving economy thanks to China, and migrants are increasingly migratong to Mexico rather than the US.
And Mexico is working with the US since 2022 to modernize all ports of entry.
But you wouldn't know any of those outside of your echo chamber, which is telling you that Trump solved it all.
Mexico didn't react to Trump in any way except telling him what they were already doing and threatening to impose equal tariffs in response.But as usual, our brainless lefties can't figure this stuff out, even when you try leading them from A to B to C.
