Interesting tidbit from this past weekend.

I honestly thought the elderly dotard would stuff his "no tax on tips" campaign promise down the first convenient rabbit hole at his earliest opportunity.

He did not. In fact, he's widely bragging that this will be the centerpiece of his tax reform platform in 2025

This will be enormously expensive to the Treasury in the short term (less tax revenue) AND the person whose income depends on tips in the long term (exempting tipped income from Social Security withholding means much smaller SS benefits at retirement.

How to pay for this expensive Trump boondoggle?

The Devil is in the Details (also in AJ's heart, right alongside his atrial fibrillation, but i digress).
Trump's OMB suggested the following two changes to the tax code to fund "no tax on tips":

1. Removing the "Single Head Of Household" category from tax filings. You're either single or you're married. Period. So most single moms (who make up the vast majority of 'single head of household' filings) will pay federal income tax at a much higher rate to subsidize folks working for tips. It sucks for the single moms, but hai, they had the choice to stay married and chose to get divorced. Actions have consequences, amiright?
2. This one is another band new income tax: Treat any and all academic and/or athletic scholarships as TAXABLE INCOME. Those wealthy enough to have mummy and daddy fund their college won't be inconvenienced. Poor people and athletes would bear the burden. Many conservatives feel that there are a disproportionate number of Negroes and other "lesser races" playing Division 1 sports anyway (Rightguide and his "elk"). This action would raise funds for the Treasury and return Division 1 sports to its historical roots of being a "white job". Fewer poor minorities in higher education means a more quote homogenized unquote college experience and lessens the need for diversity sensitivity.

Side note 2: Bobo's degree was in "GENERAL Studies" (i.e. he used up all of his veteran's benefits staying in school till he squeezed every last penny out of Uncle Sam, the college gifted him a degree and wished him Godspeed). Dear Trump Supporters: If you support deportation raids that could target schools, then you need to stop pretending that this is about "removing the criminals" and admit that it's about getting brown people out of the country.

I say that as someone who supports border security and believe Democrats did a poor job at addressing the issue. I think border security is important but so, too, is dealing with the complicated nature of illegal immigration. A variable nearly everyone on the right completely ignores or doesn't care about as so-called "good Christians."

In particular, the folks in good standing who've been here most of their lives, many since they were children, who don't know any other country other than the United States.

I'm sorry, but you're a sick, disgusting human being if you're okay with sending someone back to a country they know nothing about when they've lived in the United States the overwhelming majority of their lives and they've been an upstanding member of our society. Again, at that point, it's not about border security -- it's about getting brown people out.

So, don't sit there and try to tell me that this isn't driven by racism and bigotry when your pitch was "we're removing the criminals" -- which we absolutely damn sure should -- while you're open to the idea of sending ICE and other immigration officials into schools to deport human beings.

There aren't "dangerous criminals" in our schools. There are children.

And if you're okay with that, then I never want to hear another damn word out of any of these bottom-feeders that they "care about protecting children." It's sickening enough to see them do absolutely nothing about gun violence while they hold their "pro-life" signs at abortion clinics. Now we can add targeting children in schools for deportation to their list of the levels to which they will not hesitate to stoop to prove just how deplorable they can be.
