I was actually a member of this choir as a kid. We sang at a lot of cool events.

This is an ad for Qantas and was the most expensive advertisement ever made to date. It's probably been superceded now with the Superbowl being a huge advertising event, but back then it was an incredibly significant amount of money to drop.

The exposure to new music, as well as old favourites cast in a new light, is always interesting and exciting! But the safe space that you have opened up here, where people feel comfortable enough to share such heart-touching vulnerability, is a truly unexpected bonus. Thank you! I know that I didn't post anything at all on the day of that most vulnerable prompt last month, but that's not because I didn't feel like I could share openly... it's because I was extremely moved by several of the stories shared by others. It was almost overwhelming, in a very beautiful way. And everything was handled with class and dignity here. Very well done!

I really like most of the people who post here, but there are definitely some folks that contribute occasionally who I've seen around the other threads and I don't much care for them (yes, I'm secretly kind of an asshole... or maybe that wasn't really a secret, lol)... but I only mention that because even those people seem to be on their best behaviour here, and we're getting a pretty good version of everyone. I have to believe that a lot of these positive vibes flow from the top down... so thank you again, for captaining this ship so skillfully, morelikeasong!

Day 10: A song to pump up a crowd

I read a review in the daily paper, many many years ago, about a rock concert I went to. I can't remember the band, nor the venue, but I vividly remember a single line from it.
"Önskar att bandet kunde sluta hålla Allsång, och bara fokusera på musiken."

It's hard to translate, but it's roughly something like "I wish the band could stop emulating Allsång (a classic Swedish TV program where the audience all sings along with the artists), and just focus on the music".

It made me furious. It made me sad. It made me wonder how someone can go to a rock concert and not expect the crowd-work, how someone can avoid getting swept up in the moment, the feeling, the wonder of thousands of people sharing the joy of music at once. It's the sole reason I go to live shows.

The crowd.
The community.
The love.
You.

For as long as I can remember, D-A-D (Disneyland After Dark until old Walt sent a cease and desist) has finished their shows with this song. Take a few minutes out of your day, and listen to the crowd as the chorus hits.
As the band falls silent, and the thousand-strong-family picks up the torch.
This is what music is all about.
