I don’t know why this song irks me so much. I don’t know if it’s because it was overplayed so much. Or the repetitiveness. Or what. But I can’t stand it.

I hardly listen to the radio anymore, but when I do this song gets a pass...

I have a love/hate relationship with this band. I hated this song when it first came out. Then my mom started listening to them all the time and I started liking some of their songs. A Rush of Blood to the Head is their best album. I can't really enjoy their new stuff.

Gather around while I tell my tale of woe.
When I was a kid I had a nightmare. The details are very vague but I remember being chased by a minotaur that was being controlled by Ian Beale (from eternal British soap opera Eastenders) and this godforsaken song was playing. So every time this came on the radio I'd start feeling panicked. Managed to successfully avoid it for years afterwards and all was well.
Until I was made to watch the worst film in the history of the universe - Speed 2 obviously - and the fucking band were in it playing the fucking song!

When my daughter would sing this.

in the last line, we would just exchange “cars” for “kids.”

“1 800 cars for kids and sell your kid today!”
