Day 25: A song that you skip or change the station when it comes on

I really couldn't tell you why, but this song just got on my nerves from the day it first hit the airwaves. It wasn't that it was overplayed (which it was), but that very first time I heard it, something about it was like dragging nails across a chalkboard for me.

Day 24: A song from the 20s +2

I couldn't find an original version by Ma Rainy from 1924, that was at all clear. While this version was later & more popular, I just love that it demonstrates that my great grandparents didn't grow up in the G-rated world they told me about.

*Shave 'em dry means sex without any preliminaries ๐Ÿ˜‰

Shave 'em Dry-Lucille Bogan (more graphic cover of MA Rainey's version 1924 version)

Holy shit. Sex and carrying on is not anything new, although we all think it was invented in the 60s or something, but that song even shocked me. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

Damn. You should get extra points!

Day 24 - A song from the '20s

"I Won't Let You Down," Curtis Harding (+2)

A bit of 1970's soul, 2021 style. This whole album is a joy.

Great stuff. I always forget about Curtis. His Soul Power record is one of my favorites from past 15 years.

Day 25: A song that you skip or change the station when it comes on

When it was first released, I wore out โ€œAppetite For Destructionโ€ as did the rest of my metal head friends. It was our go-to album the summer of โ€˜88. The problem is that by the time it blew up with โ€œSweet Child of Mineโ€ and โ€œParadise Cityโ€, I was already over it and onto the next thing. In the years after, classic rock radio just ran this song into the dirt, ground it into dust, and then snorted that dust. I canโ€™t even be nostalgic about Gโ€™Nโ€™R the way I am about other bands I grew up listening to, because the powers that be have never let it rest long enough to age gracefully into the realm of nostalgia. Itโ€™s hard to feel the need to revisit a song that never left, and I could go the rest of my life without hearing this one again.

Day 25: A song that you skip or change the station when it comes on

I hardly listen to the radio anymore, but when I do this song gets a pass...

I have a love/hate relationship with this band. I hated this song when it first came out. Then my mom started listening to them all the time and I started liking some of their songs. A Rush of Blood to the Head is their best album. I can't really enjoy their new stuff.
