Chaos... to be continued

You really do work for a moron. It’s been obvious for some time that you need to get out of there for the sake of your mental and physical health. The only question is can you can get any compensation for what they’ve put you through. Maybe you can talk to a legal aid lawyer to see if they think you have a legal case against the company.
You can’t get legal aid for employment law. I’m going to make a few calls tomorrow and see what I can find out

Sounds like HR needs to know about this at the very least.

though here, depending on the state, unemployment maxes out at less than minimum wage. a week of unemployment doesn't even cover day salary. no mater how much you make, unemployment maxes at what would be a $14,000 a year salary, which is just not livable for any length of time, so no free time. A month of unemployment is actually less than the average rent even before taxes are taken out.
I think that's intentional to encourage people to find a job. My sibling was so dang picky after they quit a job, they went into huge debt waiting to find their perfect job. Finally when they maxed out their credit cards, my parents told said that they needed to get ANY job to pay their bills and then they could afford to be picky. People these days have a piss poor work ethic and feel like the world owes them, they're holding out for perfect. There's crap in everybody's work life. We have to decide if it's too much to deal with and when we decide it is, then we move on instead of constantly wallowing in our misery. I was just about to quit this job because of my manager, but then they promoted his racist, homophobic, misogynistic ass. OK, rant over.

Do you have an employment governance that you can call?
Over here, it’s really only trade unions that support with employment issues, outside of an expensive law firm. I know of one organisation called ACAS that offers free (limited) legal advice over the phone. I’m going to give them a call tomorrow

Good luck… fucking companies expect so much from people these days… it’s ridiculous

HR is different here, they don’t deal with grievances, or hiring or firing. Not in the companies I’ve worked for anyway. It’s all an internal process and you can go to the head office’s HR department for advice on which way a case should go, or policies but they’re not directly involved

That's absurd. There has to be some sort of labor board or something you can go to. Can't imagine there isn't some sort of medical discrimination protection?

I really shouldn’t be shocked that a racist, homophobic, misogynist got promoted 😒

I always told my kids to stick with what they had while looking for something else. That way you still have money coming in weekly/monthly.

I threw that comment at him too. I’ve had this condition almost 20 years, so I know about the laws and so on to protect it. That’s where he put a foot wrong, and I’ll tackle that tomorrow.

Anyway, back to the fun everyone! I just needed to let it out as I have no one here to talk to, especially as it’s 11pm and a few of you wished me luck this morning with submitting my letter

The only real backing we have in the UK is your union. Always be in a union even if you don’t agree with them. My dad was anti union so didn’t join. His employer got away with dismissing him unfairly and he had no way to fight his case.

Most employers in the US hire people as "at will" which means they can fire you without cause.

What if you can’t in touch with your union? Is there anyone to go to in that case?
