Only 1 comment and almost 20K views with 142 votes for my story in group sex... But on the plus side, someone sent me private feedback about it for the first time for any of my stories.

How do they calculate views? If I have a 10 page story and it gets 20 views, does that mean:

• One of those 10 pages was clicked on 20 times?
• Or does it mean 20 unique readers requested at least one page?
• Or does it mean that 20 people have read it from page 1 to page 10?

The question has come up before. The details seem a little trivial--kinda like roundoff .vs. truncation. If it's important to you, then please ask Manu and tell us what he says.

Agree this. Every nerd check I've done convinces me that 1 "view" = 1 click on page 1 of a story, has nothing to do with the number of pages in a story, and there is zero way of knowing how many read through to the end.

My evidence is based on my curiosity re-reads of every page of several of my multi-page stories, using different devices - the "view" counter only ever goes up by one.

This was my first time entering a story in one of the contests, and I did it just because of the mention in the competition threads of the extra views the stories get. It seems to be working - more than a week on, my story is still attracting views, votes and favorites at a rate I'd normally associate with very early on in a story's lifespan.

And yes. The Author's Hangout part of the forums is generally friendly and supportive, compared to others. Especially the contest threads like this one. Though it is still possible to find yourself in snark-infested waters.

The contests were the first things that I looked at when I found LitEr.
As a writer, I've used the contest themes to give a framework to scenes and situations that I had written down but were caught in plotless limbo.

I've also found the contest thread participants to be an interesting bunch as a whole. Whatever they're real lives might be, they impersonate members of a diverse, supportive but opinionated, largely welcoming and occasionally paranoid group well.

Last year I posted my story just hours before the deadline. There was another week after the contest closed before the votes were counted. It wasn't competitive (only a few stories are) but it might have finished around #ten. I was glad to get it done, and I'm still happy with the feedback from the contest, and the feedback goes on until the Halloween contest stories post.

I actually compiled scores for the posted Summer Luv'in stories a couple days ago. It's pointless now to think about the outcome, but it looks like around a dozen stores could be in play. Not mine.

I have three stories in the contest. Despite writing several more thousands of words on other possible entries I have decided that three is enough for this year.

I have at least a dozen potential Halloween stories but I'm taking a few days off contest stories to review a couple of generic stories.

Alas, so ends my (probably) last nude beach day of the summer. No more lotioned-up bodies, sandy butt cracks, and competing in naked limbo contests for boob luge shots. Off it goes until next year, carrying with it all my Summer Lovin' inspiration.
