What is Loving Wives as a category? I know about all the hate, ect., but what is the kink associated with Loving Wives? Describe a 4.5 loving Wives story.

Well, the official description is:
Loving Wives
Married extra-marital fun: swinging, sharing & more.

While sometimes the description above is accurate, the stories are usually a bit darker. Cheating is the norm. Usually its the wife who is the one stepping out while the husband is home nursing a broken heart.

I have a WIP that fits the official designation, but considering the stories that are usually posted, I'll be putting it elsewhere once its done.

If you go to:

https://www.literotica.com/resources/writer-resources

(I'll just pause while you do that)

Scroll down until you find 'How to Break the Literotica toplist', although you might also be distracted by other topics like 'How to get your characters pregnant', '26DD vs 36B' and 'How do I sleep with my sister?' (okay, I made that last one up), open the list, and you'll find:

Loving wives

This is the strangest category. "Loving" in the title at first seems like a misnomer, because basically, this category involves some sort of infidelity. The idea, often, is that the wife or husband "loves" their partner so much they're willing to give them anything they want—even another lover. Be forewarned, writing in this category takes a strong ego and the ability to withstand some pretty caustic criticism, because fans of this category are very vocal and opinionated, and often use the story comment sections to argue and debate their beliefs about infidelity. To write a popular story in this category, you need all the details. Readers here want to know characters' histories, motivations, all the details of their lives that led up to the infidelity, etc. and often the aftermath as well. Revenge stories are popular in this category. Usually, you're going to split your readership no matter what you do, because there are those that like the cuckold fantasy, and those who feel anything short of shooting a spouse who cheats makes the wronged partner a "wimp." There are authors who succeed here, though, and if you want to know what a popular Loving Wives story looks like, check out the Fool's Envy series by S-Des.

Many of the links in this essay don't work because the stories aren't there any more, but the advice is pretty sound.

Then, you should read 'Loving Loving Wives' by @NoTalentHack, and then for bonus insights have a read of some of Mr Hack's Loving Wives stories (not just the 'hot' ones, although there are many of those). There are lots of authors here who have published there and survived the experience. I've got one above the magic line, and a few below, but all of them had good engagement.

When you've done all that research, write the story that you want to write anyway...

Delectable Delights

Summer is not my happy place, but I tried.

(Seriously. I break out after 10-15 minutes in the sun and my skin hurts for days after. My doc suspects porphyria but hasn't been able to test for it because I avoid sunlight as if I were a real vampire and I am unwilling to do UV light testing 'cause everywhere I've checked, I'd be looking at a bill of about $1,000 for the office visit, test, and labs.)

I am so fucking white.

My doc suspects porphyria
I have that (along with the sun sometimes activating my ecezma). I find slow acclimation helps (I hardly had any problems this year for example - the less sunny Spring and early Summer maybe helped with the process), but everyone is different.

And I’m being an influencer here I know, but this brand is really good for me. But I try to buy it when on European trips as I think the FDA mandates changes for the U.S. market. Though maybe that info is out of date.

I have tried that before and ended up with a horrible chemical burn. I've got to be allergic to something in it. (I also get chemical burns from band aids 'cause my skin is apparently a whiny little sensitive bitch.)

I use Blue Lizard sensitive skin. So far it's the only sunscreen I haven't developed a reaction to (I've successfully used it for two years, before that I had to switch sunscreens after about 3-4 weeks 'cause reaction).

And I tried exposure therapy for it, but anytime I'm in the sun for more than 10-15 minutes I end up sick as fuck. Migraine, severe stomach ache/vomiting, skin rash, etc.

The worst so far was last summer when I had to cook outside (Kitchen renovation, no indoor option) at work for most weekends for a few months. I was working three days a week then in bed sick the other four just to repeat it as I started feeling better. And I was limiting my outside time as much as I could while cooking, wore sunscreen and had two umbrellas blocking the sun from me. By the end of it I was trembling whenever I had to leave my apartment and it was even slightly sunny out because I was afraid of getting sick again. Also my skin hurt the entire summer. Clothes were like wearing brillo pads. The thought of eating anything besides popsicles made me nauseous. It was absolutely awful.

I had to take a week off of work when we finally hired a new weekend cook.

I also wear long sleeves and pants or long skirts year round to cover skin from sun exposure.

I'm also realizing that my agoraphobia might not be people related so much as trauma from this shit related.

Yeah, that’s a lot worse than me. It’s just a skin reaction for me (often on my hands, which obviously get the most exposure) no nausea or migraine. Sorry to hear 🫂.

Hands and chest/face/neck for me.

It used to just be skin rashes. It's gotten progressively worse since I was younger. (Pretty sure I've had it since I was a kid, but was told it was just sunburns and "heat sickness")

It started getting worse when I was about 22. Went to the zoo on a trip with my husband, got back to the hotel and passed out for nearly a full day. Husband was on the verge of calling 911, lol.

That sucks. I’m sorry to hear.

I don’t usually jump into competitions—deadlines, and I have never been close friends. But this time, I couldn’t resist. At the last minute, I decided to throw in something fun, sexy, and unapologetically bold. It’s a quick ride—just three Lit pages—but I promise the payoffs come fast and hot.

My story, 'The Maine Attraction,' carries my usual signature: a title with a double meaning. I could have gone for something obvious and raunchy, but that’s not my style. I prefer a title that teases—whispering its intent instead of shouting it.

This summer, I wanted to share a tale that’s both playful and romantic, while diving headfirst into sex that’s messy, loud, wet, and completely unapologetic—exactly how I like it. And as a woman in my forties, I lean into writing about women like me: women who’ve stopped worrying about fitting into bikinis and started reveling in bodies that tell their own stories—curves, softness, power, and hunger all included.

If you’ve been here before, you know the Trilbyverse delivers the kind of ride that doesn’t let up. If you’re new—welcome. Stick around long enough, and I guarantee I’ll uncover that one thing that makes you blush, squirm, or sigh.

There are plenty of stories in this contest, so I kept mine short but intense. Dive in, soak it up, and when you resurface—let me know what you think.

The trend in number of Summer Lovin' stories is similar to @Actingup's graph for the Winter Holidays contest;

I started here in 2016. People who've been here longer than I tell me that for a while before 2016 there was a cadre of AHers who conspired to rig the contests, which might explain the decline in participation after 2012. Since 2016, the growth has been monotonic, but for the little bump for the pandemic year.

edit: Misspoke. I got in here 2015.
Now up to 166 published entries this year...

Excellent story. I know we can't control where the page breaks are when it's published, but when I got to the end of page one I thought it was ending... and that would have been fine too, very much a leave things hanging on a twist ending. But pages two and three continued being excellent.

Out of interest - I looked at the top stories with the 'Summer Lovin 2025' tag (NOTE - this is only a minority of stories and will not give you a complete 'leader list' for the comp), and sorted them by Views, Favourites, and Ratings. The categories of those stories are below. The top viewed in that list (in Taboo / Incest) has 53K Views and a rating of 4.18. The most favourited (also in Taboo / Incest) has 57 favourites and a score of 4.62. The highest rated story (in Mature) currently has a score of 4.79 but only 13K views (as we all know, scores will change as the sweeps happen).

The prizes (less than 2% of entries will get a prize) are awarded on scores, but for me this is a reminder that if you care about people reading and appreciating your work, ratings are not everything. Although it's hard to avoid thinking that a good Taboo/Incest story can scoop the pool for all criteria!

By the way, please nobody be tempted to game the system by bombing stories that have used the tag. I noticed one on my story today, even though it's not even eligible to win anything. I'm sure others will have had the same. There's a special spot in the frozen ice of Dante's 9th Circle of Hell for anybody who does this...

A polite request. Why didn’t anyone else ever think of that 🤣?

Well, I thought the promise of eternal damnation would likely be more effective, but you never know..
You never told me about your satanic powers. I guess you sold your soul to Mephistopheles. It explains how well you write at least.
