It's never to early to start a Contest Support Thread and 2026 is looming on the horizon, which means......
It's time to get the get the 2026 April Fools Contest Support Thread rolling:
April 01 is April Fool's Day
Although many theories have been proposed throughout the years, the origin of April Fools' Day is not exactly known, but in one form or another it exists in all European and English-speaking countries and a few others such as Turkey. It's widely practiced annual custom that takes place on the 1st of April consisting of practical jokes, hoaxes, and pranks. Jokesters often expose their actions by shouting "April Fool!" at the recipient.
As usual, this thread is to SUPPORT and ENCOURAGE authors to enter stories in the 2026 April Fool's Contest.
The themes: Stories (humorous or otherwise) of surprise meetings, humor, tricks, trick endings, and other themes of deception, chance, and/or misunderstandings (happy or otherwise) cheating at strip poker, spring worms in cans of mixed nuts, limburger cheese on the exhaust manifold of your brother-in-law's car engine, that kind of stuff.
As soon as Laurel posts the official notification I'll post a link to it right here.
Have fun everyone! And think about getting started if you haven't already!!!!
You can begin submitting on (or a week before): March 01
The last day to submit is: March 20 at 11:59EST
Winners will be announced on: March 27
Get writing, everyone, and don't forget to copy and paste the phrase "APRIL FOOLS 2026" to the "Notes to Admin" field of the submission
Also - please copy and paste the phrase APRIL FOOLS 2026 as a tag when posting your entry (Not required but nice to do)
There is an advantage to entering stories in one of Literotica's themed contests, apart from the possibility of winning, and that is that your story gets far more exposure and attention than it would normally do. Your name gets out there, you get exposure to more readers and you may even build on your cadre of followers. If you're a new writer on Literotica, throw your story in - above all, it's a chance to get ourself wider exposure and get mpre experience writing....
First Place: $150 Cash Prize
Second Place: $100 Cash Prize
Third Place: $75 Cash Prize
All rules for the monthly contests note - these haven't taken place for a long time but the rules still apply) are in place. You can submit as many entries as you like but only one of your stories can place in the contest - that is, if you author the top two highest voted stories, only the top one will be eligible.
The only exceptions to the rules are:
- All submissions must be stand-alone stories created for this contest theme. We will not accept individual chapters of a larger work submitted separately. If you have a multi-chaptered contest-themed submission, please submit all chapters together as one story submission.
- A story has only to accrue 25 votes to be eligible.
The following guidelines also apply:
- Author must copy and paste the phrase "APRIL FOOLS 2026" in the "Notes" field of the submission. You can submit any time from now on, so long as you put this message in the NOTES field. We will not post the contest stories until the contest start date.
Again -- PLEASE do not forget to put the EXACT phrase "APRIL FOOLS 2026" IN THE NOTES FIELD - NOT the description field or anywhere else. In fact, we recommend that you COPY & PASTE it into the NOTES field to avoid typos. If it is not in the NOTES field – or if it's typoed - we cannot easily find your story and it may not be approved in a timely manner to be entered into the contest!!
- Submissions must have an April Fool's theme: i.e. stories (humorous or otherwise) of surprise meetings, humor, tricks, trick endings, and other themes of deception, chance, and/or misunderstandings (happy or otherwise), etc. Be creative! Please don't just submit a story that happens on April 1st. That would not be in the spirit of the contest, and readers (aka voters) will likely punish you for your trickiness.
Any story that meets the above criteria will be automatically entered into the contest. Winners will be decided by reader input (aka votes).
Important Note: Once your story is submitted, it may take over 72 hours for it to be posted, or may be sent back to you for clarification/mending. We strongly suggest that you do not wait till the last day of the contest to submit your story. The sooner you submit, the better chance your story has of accruing the votes necessary to be eligible.
Good luck to all!
